Seamsters and seamstresses beware. Fabric scissors cut things that aren’t thread or fabric.
What is that goo at 5:44??
Fiskars have never let me down, I have three of the same pair around the house and any time I’ve used other brands I immediately threw them out.
I bought contractor scissors meant to cut thick rubber for roofing for $60 or $80, i don’t remember (bought at McQuade and Bannigan, idk where else to buy it) the Crescent, Wiss or wlss, then it says inlaid W1225
Where’s the Milwaukee scissors?
You need to add the Cutco brand which are even more expensive than KAI.
My grandmother and 2 of my aunts were tailors/seamstresses and I always saw them use Fiskar. But they aren’t so good these days. The joint that holds them together is plastic. I think my grandmother’s Fiskar scissors still work but the one’s I bought broke after 2 years.
I have westscott titanium. I’m very happy, wonder how they compare?
Those $73 Kai siccors are now nearly $100 in your link…
i work in the textil industry, and i have KAI scissors for a longe time, but dont let the scissors fal to the ground, the verry smalç tip can bend eazy, but is the must sharp i ever have
Japanese Canary brand are awesome
Cool and good comparision but but you missed a big one: Wiss. Bought the Wiss 20N Heavy Duty Industrial Shears and they are wicked..
This one was a lot of work! I cant imagine cutting all that stuff! Those KAI’s are unreal! I saw a video before this from Sam’s Auto Upholstery. He presented several of the top ones he’s used and said the best Scissors for the money he’s ever used were the KAI’s. I do like those Fiskars too. They look really well engineered. Great job as usual. 😎👍🏻
im surprised that you didnt test fiskars. those the definitely the best scissors.
Wiss Inlaid!
Kitchenaid, Fiskars and Klein. Huh! No surprises there. How odd.
I have a pair of Hart scissors, the Walmart tool brand. Idk about how sharp they are as I really don’t judge scissors the way i do a knife.. but they are absolutely better than any of those as an all purpose tool. Probably inferior to some of those if precision is a factor, for crafts or something. I’ve had them at least 2 years, never maintained them, cut prob 100 green scotch brite pads, hundreds if chicken wings, flashing, you name it. Always washed in dishwasher. I can go in there right now and cut through all the bones in an averaged size chicken wing with about the effort if cutting cardboard with my fiskars.. sounds silly but they are probably the most priceless tool i’ve ever owned.
Have you ever tested Sheet metal shears ( Tin Snips)?
No Wiss?
Gingher scissors are made in Italy by the Fraliz (in Premana) and before by ICAR (in Maniago). Both companies are top notch quality for cast iron cutlery and they work for many companies, also German brands.
I saw that you kinda drew on the scissors a bit and I learned that close up drawing is something I’ve really wanted to see.
I don’t know if it’s the usual sort of thing for the channel, but testing pens or pencils might be neat.
Testing the amount of ink used, resistance to drying out, stroke width, distance from a straightedge, ability to mark smooth metal… Just to name a few, would be really nice to know!
4:08 ZWILLING made in Germany since 1731. There is also a full steel, cold forget kitchen scissor that lasts generations for 55$
Very Impressive!
Hi Todd. Do you have a video out on gardening pruners? The small hand ones that cut a single branch at a time.
I always visit your channel before purchasing any hand tools to make sure I make the right choice. Thank you
Bought the kai based on these results. Since scissors can be sharpened, I expect to use this for a long time making it worth it even though it’s more expensive. The kai have all sorts of sizes for the 7000s series and I bought a smaller one which costs a lot less but same steel and design
I bought a Whiteley Wilkinson Glide General Purpose scissor made in England. I paid $37 plus shipping. I like them but didn’t test them the way you did 😂
Thanks man
No surprise Kai is the parent company to Kershaw and zero tolerance lol
Thanks
You must have forearms like Popeye after these tests… 😂
Your videos are great man! One of my favorite YouTube binges!
you can make the cheapest scissors sharp as a razor blade. grab a sheet of sandpaper, make about 25-50 cuts in it with the scissors, then do the same thing with aluminum foil, they will cut like $100 scissors.
Just picked up a set of crescent wiss shears, and I’m impressed with their performance so far, I’d like to see a video comparing aviation snips
So you cut 14.000 feet or 2.6 miles of paper. How long did it take?
I’ve been replacing a lot of the cheaper tools I own and a lot of the bladed tools I’m buying are KAI. They also make what are probably the best nail clippers available – it may sound silly but it’s really worth it to have a nice pair of nail clippers.
If you’re gonna do this test right, you gotta include a pair of Ernest Wright scissors
Is there a link to buy the KAI scissors
When garlic press?
so the best sharpness for buck is definitely scotch lmao. absolutely insane
Your poor hand and forearm lol. True dedication. I use KAI all the time these days as I’m a professional upholsterer and need the best. I used to use US made Wiss but they went downhill when they started to get made overseas. Mundial are also very good… If you do another test you should consider those brands. Thanks a bunch!
bro, you make test jigs for EVERYTHING. why no robot hand or whatever you can think up!? You trying out for "worlds strongest forearm" or somethin? lol
Hats off for this man’s dedication to his content. Shredding a pile of paper for the sake of content.
Thanks for doing this video! 😊 We we’re talking about getting new ones for the kitchen and I said , “Wait! Let me see if Todd has done a video in this!” And for the first time ever, my partner sat and watched a video with me.
I ended up buying those KAI scissors And sharp tester bc of this video. 🤭
I was thinking I would buy the Klein or Fiskars but since the Klein are made in the USA I would go with those.
Good Stuff on this Video. I have less then 10 Klein tools in my box… 3 of them are their Scissors. I have loved them for ages. My Daughter came home over the summer, and was helping me, I said Hey use these and she was like. Her response was…ohhhhh these are nice, much better then then ones I use in the hospital. Now you have a doctor running around a hospital with a set of Klein Scissors.
KAI doesn’t call K-A-I in japanese, like front half of "kite" (ˈkʌɪ ?)
and just FYI, 貝印 meaning The Mark of Shellfish.
I use KAI all day at work ! I go threw 4-5 pair a day before they get resharpened . Hardest scissors I’ve found, can’t even scratch my name in them !
Consider testing tin snips, aviation snips, metal shears.
