So, do you germinate the seeds in the clay pebbles? ?
Another great video, just like all the others I’ve watched. They’re so informative, especially for a beginner. Thanks for taking the time to make these!!!
Hey PA Hydroponics u said that in summer time the heat can make the water in the DWC bubble system warmer than normal which can cause problems. I will using my DWC system in the Caribbean which is constant heat n humidity will A/C be just find or would I need water cooler added to my system? Thanks in advance
It’s a hole saw
Love the vibes you give out man keep it up 💪Hopefully you still doing this beautiful craft.
2 ADD A SMALL FEATURE U CAN USE A SMALL BRIGHT OR DARK HOLLOW BALL 2 PUT INTO THE TUBE THAT WILL FLOAT ON TOP OF THE WATER SO U CAN SEE THE WATER LEVEL BETTER.. GREAT VIDS LOVE THE TIME U HAVE SPENT 2 SHOW HOW 2 PROPERLY DO THIS…. PEACE
A whole saw and a step bit Says Mr, Knowitall 🤓,
Does the connector that’s attached to near the bottom of the bucket leak? I’ve found that it’s very difficult to stop the leaking using connectors and rubber washers. The problem is the bucket surface is curved, and you ideally need a flat surface for the connection to the lower part of the bucket, to make the joint water tight. I’ve also drill the pilot hole in the forward direction, and drill the larger hole in the reverse, counter clockwise direction, then the hole edges are always perfectly smooth. No de-burring is ever needed.
I setup about 18 five gallon buckets in series, like Christmas tree lights. The series of buckets was connected to a bucket with only a float valve in it. The float valve bucket was filled from a larger reservoir tank. Then all the buckets in the setup then matched the float value bucket nutrient level. The problem that I had was that it was very difficult to have a water tight seal on each bucket in the series chain of buckets. I moved from Minnesota to Florida.
The problem I am having in Florida, with outdoors DWC five gallon black buckets is the nutrient temperature is 85 to 91 degrees, during the long and hot summers in Florida. In Minnesota, the nutrient temperature was much lower in the summertime in Minnesota when using DWC five gallon black buckets outside. The DWC plants weakened and died, probably because the nutrient temperature was too hot. I think the solution is to use a chiller for the nutrient. I am trying to decide which type of chiller is the most reliable for about a 60 gallon reservoir. I think I would have to use the flood and drain method to circulate the chilled nutrient in each bucket, or put chiller coils in each five gallon bucket.
Some basic questions about DWC. At what level do you keep the water in relation to the net pot? What if the plants haven’t rooted past the pot, how far up the net pot do you have the water level? If the plants have roots past the net pot how much of an air space do you keep in between the net pot and the water level( if at all)?In reading from Kratky , if you have “air” roots, you cannot submerge them again, so water level is a big thing. Is it difficult to maintain a stable water level? Couldn’t you just connect tubing at whatever designated water level you thought is necessary and have it recirculated to a reservoir from that point so that the water level remains stable?
If so can you build it, or tell me how to build it?
Thanx for vid, hopped on your site and ordered 2 water level kits and a deburring tool after watching.
It’s called a holesaw
Enjoy your videos Gary, happy New Years from North Dakota buddy !
Where should the water level be at on the net / hdroton balls for young seedlings and when in veg and flower roots ? Thanks for any help in advance .🇺🇸
paddle bits work just as good. run the drill in reverse
Thanks for the video _✌🏼❤️_ love from Melbourne
First, thanks for all of your videos. I have learned so much. Very basic question but how often would you need to add water to something like this if you had a tomato plant growing? And how would you recommend doing that?
So glad I found this channel!
So 1 & 1/4 inch size for the hole saw?
Glad to find your videos. Great tips for beginners like me.
Very helpful video I’m new to dwc so just wanted to see how it’s done
Thanks buddy 👍
Awesome video, I’m so happy with the format, easy to understand, and better, early to procure! Just received your water level kits in the mail, quick! Excited to get them installed
Thanks! Concise and effective presentation.
Awesome videos!
With that water level indicator, wont the grow lights will go into your bucket?
Ordered!
Great tips on the blue tubing and bulkhead fittings! You do a nice job on tutorials.
Thank you!!!
I came across some of your newer videos and loved them. The older once are still fundamental for a newb like me
Would you do a videos about setting up a auto feed for when I go on vasction.. Thanks..
does anyone know where you can get the blue see through pipe from, I cant find it anywhere online, only clear pipes? is clear pipe ok to use?
Thanks! Great video! Ideally!
You probably ly answered this somewhere and I probably missed it. But what is the actual amount of water that goes into the 5gal bucket. I know.everyone says an inch below the netpot but has anyone actually measured how much water that is? Thanks in advance.
can i purchase 6 of those 1/2" drain fittings? i need 6 of them
Fantastic. Best videos are DWC buckets. Thank you.
you are very helpfull, wish I could stop by, but I live in Ca. can you help with water level in DWC bucket, Should use less water as roots grow Or 1/2in from bottom of net pot ??
These are great little indicators.
Your videos are awesome man. I appreciate the knowledge you’re dropping. Keep it up.
Thank you Gary!
Giving tips with a cool attitude…like a young Hydro Mr Rogers.
Thanks for all your videos my first DWC came off without a single problem so This Buds for you Gary!!( I’ll just smoke that for ya lol) thanks for the education
DWC vs. Kratky?
Learned so much from your videos. Would love to order some of these from you if you could ship to India. We could even explore setting up a small franchise for you, if large quantities can be done.
Hi, been growing in soil for a couple years now and was thinking about making the switch to hydro. I want to eventually work my way up to something like your Fallponic XL system but to start of with dwc I was thinking a bubble bucket. Have you ever experienced roots clogging the water lvl indicator drain fitting preventing air from getting in?
I noticed you sell the 6 plant tote kit without the tote, do you sell this set up as well?
When running autos how many times would the buckets need changed.
The Bob Ross of hydroponics.
Love your videos. Too the point, informative and educational. Brilliant work. Could you omit the air stone and just run air thru the indicator and get the similar results. Closer to Root Spa setup. Building my own, but I gave up the search for the part that connects the air line to the tube on the root spa. Personally I used green medical tubing with the trumpet end and just stuck it in the indicator tube. cut off the other trumpet ends for spares. Super cheap (10 for $10) It bubbles closer to the sides of the buckets but a small piece of tubing inside the bucket off the elbow or bulkhead can get you close to the center of the bucket if preferred. Larger bubbles than an airstone, but will that be any issue?
Shouldn’t the tube be green, because that’s what’s reflected off algae?
You’re awesome Gary! My bulkhead and tube came in the mail today! Thanks
