Worm castings are NOT the same as a fertilizer

Worm castings are NOT the same as a fertilizer

If your plants (ex. heavy feeders) are in need of nutrients, a bag of worm castings isn’t going to solve your problems.

It will help build healthy soil which is what you want to get to eventually, but fertilizer provides nutrients in a much shorter time.

Worm castings are awesome and definitely have a place in the garden, but make sure you are using the right strategy to meet your gardening goals.

I use strait worm casting and and coco cior. Two parts. But I wouldn’t even want to a natural version of fertilizer they’re like the least affective and is prone to cause diseases in plants. Best price/result/quality&/quantity you wanna go to your local co-op and get co-op 6-12-12 npk for flowers and 15-15-15 npk for crops. Comes in a 50 pound bag and is a pure nutrient compressed into a slow feed.

Sprout will benefit to grow in worm casting, and grow bigger and faster…then you will have to fertilize when they have 3 sets of leaves

Thanks for sharing-is it okay/necessary to use worm castings in containers?

I was thinking that worm castings would be an excellent soil conditioner. So many buzzwords, and hip trends, and science and anecdotal evidence to filter thru. Thanks for posting good content, much appreciated!!!

Worm castings won’t help at all of your soil dries out or gets hit with UV rays from the sun

The fungus and bacteria that is in castings can double the yield of your plants so no its not a fertilizer its better.

I’m making Bio char, also using IMO’S, fpj, ffj, +labs. No store bought fertilizer or pest control this year. Planting fall garden this week.

"Don’t use it like a fertilizer, just add some to increase biodiversity" So uhhh… like a fertilizer then?

May I ask, what is the name of that flower at the end of the video by your feet, please?😊

We grow an ENTIRE 1/4 acre market garden with worm castings, compost and rabbit manure. We make our castings from rabbit manure. It might not technically be defined as a fertilizer….but it depends on how and what was used as bedding for the NPK biological levels.
