High Time To Reschedule Marijuana: What's The Dea Waiting For? Cannabis News 2024

The HHS recently provided a recommendation to the DEA that suggests updating the scheduling status of marijuana. The majority of Americans waited hesitantly to see how that recommendation would be received and more anticipation was added to the mix when the memo in question was released nearly entirely redacted. In the recent weeks, some clarity has been gained and the memo was made available in its unredacted form. As we inch closer to a presidential election, this begs the question of whether this recommendation will be followed, who holds the authority on the matter, and what would this do in states that have already legalized the plant?

For those unfamiliar with drug scheduling, it is a system implemented by the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) that categorizes drugs based on their potential for abuse and medical use. Schedule I drugs are considered to have the highest potential for abuse and no accepted medical use, while Schedule V drugs have a low potential for abuse and accepted medical uses. Currently, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, along with heroin and LSD.

Supporters of this change argue that the current scheduling status of marijuana is outdated and ignores scientific research that has shown its potential for medicinal purposes.

On the other hand, opponents argue that this change could strengthen the cartel and increase the use of marijuana among young people.

If it moves to schedule 3 will cdl drivers be able to get a medical card? Will employers still be able to test and fire employees that have a medical card in legal states? Some do now and have won in court since it is still illegal federally.

Politicians making rules and laws about stuff they don’t know about ……I’m shocked. No fear though they’ll hire the scientists that agree with their their way of thinking

Love your content. However, you seem to be against the hemp industry and thcA flowers in general, when all cannabis is thcA. It sounds like you’d rather pay millions of dollars in permits to the same governments imprisoning folks for hemp. It’s always been hemp until the government needed a name to vilify it. There are waaaayyyyy more benefits to hemp than just THC. And suggesting groups and legacy growers should pay millions for permits instead of being treated like any other plant and business is wild. The hemp culture are the real cannabis legacy groups whereas 90% of dispensaries currently are corn balls that shouldn’t be in the industry at all. You’re in Illinois, the nastiest taxes in our industry. How could you support that instead of the real hemp industry.

This rescheduling of this drug will only happens when the testing ban is eliminated and then the fight will be over.

  5. @BurnoutsAndRotorblades on February 21, 2024 at 5:39 am

Let’s talk about what happens when you get caught with cannabis products after schedule III. Especially on the immediate trigger law states. What could someone be charged with now that they are holding a schedule III drug with no prescription?

  6. @SamRomain on February 21, 2024 at 5:43 am

Schedule 3 will do nothing but put the industry on the pockets of big pharma.

  7. @Anarchynow001 on February 21, 2024 at 5:44 am

How can anyone say we live in a free country when there’s sooooo many laws against simple human behaviors, like consuming a plant?

Didn’t the founding fathers fought against this type of thing? Unbearable laws and taxes? How quickly we forget history.

  8. @ThisIS_Insane on February 21, 2024 at 5:45 am

They aren’t waiting for anything AFAIK, I think they just like dragging their heels on this. They want us sick, and fighting amongst ourselves. They can’t control us when we are calm and thinking critically. 🤔🤔🤔
I have since become convinced, that decriminalization was the way to go on this, because of all the shenanigans the ‘lawmakers’ pull when changing the rules we write, and vote on, after the powers that be get done with getting CAUGHT. Decriminalization removes it from the purview of law enforcement, except where the FDA is concerned. It sells itself, and it will forever be a product that helps humanity in countless ways. It has grown, developed and evolved with us. We need to recognize this fact.🤨

No adult human or group has ever possessed the right, let alone the "authority" to stop adults from growing or using marijuana.

  11. @fatsexy1978 on February 21, 2024 at 5:46 am

Please, we all know the Biden administration is putting this on hold, and will address it near November. Gee what happens in November 2024? Our Presidential election. Rescheduling to class 3 means nothing for Americans. All bologna

  12. @disdiamonds23 on February 21, 2024 at 5:46 am

Honestly at this point isn’t it already legalized since thca is 100% legal by definition I mean you can buy thca online and ship most anywhere and that is just marijuana when smoked

  13. @rayjay8322 on February 21, 2024 at 5:46 am

I grew an auto version of a CBG Girl from Dutch Passion. As with all my medicinals, I always make fresh froze dry ice live rosin.
I gave some to a fellow Veteran that has fairly significant PTSD. It blew away his anxiety so significantly, he had to catch me up immediately with the results!.
This upcoming grow will be their photo version in a nice big 20 gallon no till living earth pot, I fully expect to have some extremely good quality medicine.
Dutch Passion Has quite the extensive medicinal selection to choose from and everyone that I’ve grown so far has excelled and produced extremely high quality medicinal herbage. I highly recommend them!

  15. @z33r2 on February 21, 2024 at 5:49 am

I wouldn’t even vote for that muppet if he descheduled it. Schedule 3 is an insult to the American people by this oligarch.

  16. @frostychris4152 on February 21, 2024 at 5:50 am

PRESIDENT BIDEN is using cannabis rescheduling to entice us to vote for him again. He already had four years to do this, get him out and vote for someone who will actually legalize it. WE THE PEOPLE have to hold our elected representatives accountable by voting for the ones who ACTUALLY REPRESENT THE PEOPLE and THE PEOPLE WANT CANNABIS LEGALIZED.

  17. @BarnCatsandGoldenRetrievers on February 21, 2024 at 5:51 am

Is going to be announced mid April right around 4/20. They will announce it at this time as a gigantic virtue signal just like he did, when he tried to pay off everybody’s student loans.

He’s basically held an entire industry hostage for four years, waiting for the best time for him to announce it .

I’m sorry but that’s some slimeball shit right there!

    Mark my words mid April!

  18. @scumpunx89 on February 21, 2024 at 5:51 am

The states that don’t have it legal should have to legalize it. If it does.

  20. @platinumcontent9 on February 21, 2024 at 5:54 am

Hey fellas would be great to have a moment of your time. Based off of what you guys know, what do you think the FBI would do, if there’s a schedule 3 authorization?

  22. @63ah1275 on February 21, 2024 at 5:56 am

  23. @BA-wd1oo on February 21, 2024 at 5:57 am

At about 36 minutes in, Demitri mentions that an individual state , in his example Texas, could continue to enforce their own prohibition laws against cannabis if/ when the federal government reschedules/ de-schedules. But wouldn’t our Constitution’s supremacy clause prohibit an individual state from outlawing anything "legalized" at the federal level? It wouldn’t be like abortion, since there’s no actual ‘federal abortion law’- the Supreme Court simply overturned/ negated their own previous blessing of the issue, thereby turning over all concern of it to the states. Cannabis would be different, since it’s a substance actually listed on the CSA and regulated by the federal government. Right??

Miggy for president 2024 , we just want you to federally legalize It

  28. @conork8177 on February 21, 2024 at 6:00 am

Any concern over the DEA deciding to split out, and schedule, marijuana preparations as schedule III? When Biden originally talked about rescheduling he continued to use the word "medicines". Seems like he was favoring FDA approved drugs as opposed to the industry that exists today.

  34. @thegrandbastard2816 on February 21, 2024 at 6:11 am

Can you do a piece about states that allow medical possession and use yet prosecute everyone else. My question is how can a state sanction what amounts to federal king pen level sales they control and collect taxes on while charging misdemeanors and felonies for possession. The "criminals" arresting "criminals." The state chooses to defy federal law no differently than individuals choose to defy state law.

  35. @vodkatest7863 on February 21, 2024 at 6:11 am

If it goes schedule 3 what happens to THCA hemp?

  36. @dharrison1978dh on February 21, 2024 at 6:11 am

No one out here in the real world think it’s ok for access to this plant to be controlled by gov or business!!! Government and business have done enough damage!!! Free the plant free the people!!!!!

  38. @greg9069 on February 21, 2024 at 6:14 am

The fact I have to suffer because of a rule that some alcoholic geezer made decades ago is pathetic. I’m not proud of this country at all.

  39. @nathanratermann9204 on February 21, 2024 at 6:16 am

Rescheduling is so fucking stupid!! Enjoy not getting your smoke from the dispo! Now let’s prove you are fucked up enough to qualify for a prescription for it!!!

  40. @ericlunstead2569 on February 21, 2024 at 6:19 am

Uhhh, didn’t Biden already promise this FOUR FUCKIN’ YEARS AGO? Why would anyone reconsider him for another 4 miserable years based on following up on a promise he never delivered on?
And why the fuck do you two always position this as party line? It’s about the studies and their efficacy, remember? Fuck sake….stop wasting everyone’s time.

  43. @cassels2010 on February 21, 2024 at 6:23 am

Hell No on Biden, weed be damn. four more years of Biden it wont matter any more. he should legalize it on the way out for wrecking the economy like he has.

I appreciate your efforts over there. I’m currently about to lose my brother and nephews to a move due to economic reasons, and they’re looking to go to some Southern states where at least one will jail you for just a gram of flower and who’s medical program has been a total catastrophe (cough Alabama). I use to mitigate lack of function due to severe nerve pain, and without it I can’t drive, stand long periods, sleep or sit much without severe pain. Done all the steroid injections and pills and stuff. Cannabis products are the only thing giving me back my life and I’m about to be unnecessarily abandoned and already have severe trauma from past life experiences. So I truly hope this gets descheduled and I truly appreciate you being on the frontlines. Living with chronic physical pain alone is bad enough, mental/emotional pain is another beast all together. 🙏

  49. @BarnCatsandGoldenRetrievers on February 21, 2024 at 6:31 am

If you two were smart, you guys would throw your support behind Dean Phillips for President. Not only is he not an Alzheimer’s patient who can’t find his way off a stage but his track record on drug policy is far superior to that of Joe Biden who is in fact an Alzheimer’s patient.
