I am thinking a double tower in a plastic heavy duty tote would be cool to holes drilled only on 3 sides of the tower one pump
Love the idia I think should use buckets. Can’t wait to see next vedio.
Im thinking for tomatoes the bucket witht he pool noodle idea would be best only because of the enormous roots but for herbs and lettuce probably the towers would be fine. Im in the middle of my first build right now.
Wondering about using material for growing food that aren’t meant for that purpose. Are there chemicals and contaminants that would get into the plant ??
8:03 I’m definitely not an engineer but, I think if you cut the holes at an angle on the tube you won’t have that problem. …no?
didn’t finish watching it but already have my question:
Is the system stable under wind? Your bucket looks small and does not have a lot of overturning resistance …
Curious about plastic(s)/silicon leeching and absorption into plants. Does it mater?, considering pfoas and forever chemicals in the water cycle perhaps it doesn’t?
is there a followup video?
Hi. What pump are you using?
Why not use Red and violet LED light hooked to solar instead of sunlight?
Perhaps if you put a nail through the noodle on the inside it can hold the plant better when it gets heavy.
So grateful for your help
How do you start seeds with the pool noodles?
Aren’t you worried about the PVC breaking down and getting into your vegetables at the cellular level?
Newbe question but how do you compensate for natural rain water when growing with a outdoor hydroponic system?
What kind of plants do you recommend and NOT recommend for a tower? Is there a video link of yours that covers this?
Using Poolnoodles or something else thats not foodgrade… idk… not feeling comfortable with it.
I’m game to try this! Thank you for sharing 🌿🌿🌿🌹🌹🌹🌿🌿🌿🌄🌄🌄
Thank you for explaining this well. 💯 I’m new to all this but I’m liking it, and will try it. 😉
This is so cool. You got me and my kiddos into hydroponics now. Dont wanna be a party pool noodle pooper lol but what about any chemicals in the pool noodle getting into the plant and or water 🤔. Its a great idea as its so cost effective. Would love to use but just interested how safe a pool noodle is gonna be for food? Thanks brother for your cool videos. My eldest took environmental management and now gonna get him working on growing food for the family as part of extension of his study. 🙏🏼😊 💜
I wonder if I could build a bucket aeroponics tower for potatoes… (Would need to be light proof to keep the potatoes from turning green)…
How high is the water level on the PVC tower? Anybody can answer
This video was made for Americans only. Tube 5ft tall… How much is that?
Reflective thing like foil insulation to reflect the sun back towards the back side of the tower . I love the pool noodle thing I am thinking lava rock inside to roots will cling to those as well lava rock really does not weigh that much either a few inches concreate in the bottom of the bucket heavy base
problem with pool noodle. What if the water is running down the side of the tube, hits the noodle and goes around the roots. Only works if water runs down the center. The net cups will allow water to enter the roots if a stream is running down the tube.
Are the pool noodles safe for growing food or do they release toxins?
I really love both ideas, 4 tubed in 20 gallon tote, also maybe 2 stacks of the 5 gallon buckets on a 20 gallon tote.
I love the way you think!
Instead of cutting a round hole in the pvc maybe a half circle with the flat part on the bottom. Then heat the bottom part and use a bottle to bend it out.
I live in the desert in California, my question would be if the pool noodle has any chemicals that would release from heating up in the sun? Some containers have specifications, that say they are sage for growing vegetables and fruits.
I love the decor in your space. Very cool
I know that I am really late to the site but I would like to see the bucks
Okay brother you made the mistake of asking a German for his opinion l o l so here goes. I would get a HDPE plastic barrel which you can pick up at any car wash for free most times, give them a little back by using their system on water only to wash it out real good as it will have had By law bio degradable soap in it. then cut 3 holes in it put 3 of your pipes in it and tie them together at the top with a couple lengths of metal cloths hanger ( if you can still find them ) put your holes in the sides as you see fit remember to be aware of what plants you put where as with a tower system it is very important as shading in compounded as you grow vertically. then add a couple inches of washed river rocks in the bottom of the barrel add H2o and plant food use you pool noodles in the holes to hold your plants add a pump and put it in the sun. As for me I will stick with my true Kratkie method with a split Clam shell style 55gal. barrel with a cheep peace of board across it with 1" round holes with 1" square soft foam Pac Mans in them to hold my plants and grow about any crop I want. The only time I ever needed a bigger hole was when I grow radishes ( yes I said Radishes ) I prefer the horizontal method as I don’t need a pump which is the most common thing to go rong with hydroponic systems and why I will never use anything but Kratkeis design. The only thing I might try to alter is to try adding fish into the beds as plant food rather than chemicals. Good luck with you experiments I will be watching to see how you do.
Is white PVC safe? How about the blue PVC used in the plumbing industry?
i like the bucket method.
will you be doing a sale for your course anytime soon?
My only concern is what type of plastic is the pool noodle made out of? Otherwise I would love to make my own😀
good idea but what about toxicity ? the salad will absorb the plastic element in it no?
Terrible video. Rambling on didn’t show us anything except a pvc pipe with some holes in it cool…
I want to see how you put the plants into the pool noodle. What size are the plants that are transplanted into the tower noodle?
I got a question about strawberry plants. I live in the Netherlands and i don’t want to have the Hydroponics running all winter, it will freeze. Now my strawberries are always outside in the ground, but how does it work with hydroponics? Can i keep the strawberries in the hydroponics system while it’s shut down for the winter? Do i have to buy new once every year? How can i keep them in the winter so i can put them back in the spring?
I know i got alot of questions but i never hear ppl talking about hydroponics and wintertime. Hope you can clear stuff up for me and other ppl. Thanks
Once you use the genius pool noodle hack…you’ll never go back. I tried it and love it. Thank you. Your tips an channel are invaluable.
A year later my son and I are going to try and replicate this $0-10 …we shall see;) thank you so much
Are you able to use the pool noodles to start seeds, such as lettuce, spinach, etc?
I want to make one of these for my students but have no money to spend all for my classroom. Are there any lists you used so I can go shopping and see? I am not a mechanic of any sort but REALLY want to do this for my kids. Thank you.
Could you use a wooden pallet for a base….cut a hole the size of the bucket bottom, set the first bucket in it for stabilization, and build up from there? You can usually get pallets for free, too.
Im interested to know your technic
to rotate plants towards sunlight, just make a base with a repurposed stool that swivels 🙂
Would using a mirror on the shady side of the tower help increase production on all sides?
Good Day. Anyone considering the food grade factor? As many buckets are not food grade. Not sure about the glue stuff I would not want to consume that. What is the pool noodle made of? Will any of that absorb into the plants? Thank you so much.
