Starting Coleus Two Methods plus Begonia Cuttings Update

Coleus can be started from seeds or stem cuttings. I will show you how to use both methods to grow your own coleus. I grow flowers and vegetables in Saskatchewan, Canada. My cold hardiness zone is zone 3b. I have an average of 110 frost free growing days each year. The past few years have seen our temperatures go as low as -37C (-34.6F) to as high as 37C (98.6F). Come see what and how I grow in these conditions.

Another very good tutorial, Prairie Plantgirl!👍 I haven’t dived into growing these beautiful plants from seed yet; however, I did pick up a package of seeds from our local Seed Library.😃 Thanks for the know-how.😃
Today, I plan on transplanting my zinnia seedlings and a few sunflowers.🌻
I have a pot of calendula that lived through the winter and has been blooming the whole time. Other plants got knocked back by the cold weather.
Continue having loads of gardening fun!💕

Great timing! I have seeds to start and established hold-over plants from last fall for cuttings. Thanks for the instructions.

Spot on, PPG and perfect timing too. I like to keep a favourite coleus over winter for taking cuttings. Starting in water is my preferred method. Roots form in 2 weeks ready for transplanting to potting mix. Seeds can take a very long time to start.
I have a question for you. I started several cuttings from one plant already. One of the resulting plants has very deep red foliage while the others are pale. Can you suggest a reason for this anomaly?
