Cannabis: Democrat-Led House Passes MORE Act to Legalize Marijuana

Cannabis: Democrat-Led House Passes MORE Act to Legalize Marijuana

The House voted Friday for the first time to legalize marijuana at the federal level, but the bill has little chance of being considered in the Republican-controlled Senate.

The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act would remove marijuana from federal drug schedules under the Controlled Substances Act and expunge convictions for marijuana offenses. The bill would also put a 5% excise tax on cannabis and use the funds to help individuals who have been punished for drug offenses. It passed the House 228-164.

the main goal for legalization was for pharmaceuticals to have access to weed because they knew people were using it on a holistic level bypassing the poisonous pills that gave you one disorder after attempting to destroy another disorder with those pills. the big pharm industry was hurting because of weed and the facts that PHARMA was the real drug dealers killing millions for a profit, but because they were protected under the federal govt. they could push that poison with ease and now they want to be in the loop to reap the benefits of weed meanwhile so many people caught non-violent drug offense charges through the years that brought stiff numbers for those folks. it’s sad because urban pharmaceuticals had a smaller risk of killing their clients with their dro than the average PHARMA that pushed their pills to their clients in which every commercial described a side effect which might be fatal to the masses that take that Quote "medication" and now PHARMA has that power to push their ALLEGED vaccine that kills COVID but they’re not sure if their 100% but claim 100? (phizer) REALLY? OH and PS the 12 is pissed over this outcome and probably ready to pay the senate off to make certain it doesn’t happen so they can make america great again with their bias discrimination and killing of black folks and anyone in possession of such a substance that PHARMA considers a treasure trove to their bank accounts!

Think about how they’re talking and you will realize what they actually saying. Decriminalizing marijuana not making it legal, there is a difference. Politicians only do something if it puts more money in their pockets. Or the pocket of the big corporations who pull their strings. Decriminalization doesn’t mean the same as legislation.

  5. @MrBerg23 on April 27, 2024 at 8:28 am

This seems like nothing more than a gimmick, it will always pass in the house, it’s the Senate who will never pass it. They’re too busy disagreeing on the covid stimulus, quit wasting your time with this until we get a government who actually wants to do more than just line their own pockets

  6. @davidk5456 on April 27, 2024 at 8:30 am

What about drug testing? Will it be taken off the substance list? Will swabs be the new test to show recent use? weed last 30 days or longer in your system for regular users by urine and blood and even longer in hair samples. Most companies have 0 tolerance which your terminated immediately for positive results. So jobs will be created and jobs will be lost.

    Jesus Christ saves from sin.
    Romans 3: 23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Hebrews 9: 27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
    Isaiah 64: 6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
    Revelation 21: 8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
    Romans 5: 8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
    John 3: 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    John 14: 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Romans 10: 9-10.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    Jesus said John 5: 24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
    1John 5: 10-13
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
    Ephesians 2: 8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Romans 8: 1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
    1 Corinthians 15: 3-4
    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    2 Corinthians 5: 21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

first of all….the term "Marihuana"<—as spelled by the Nixon Administration….The term "Marijauan" is nothing but a Spanish slang in reference to wacky tobbacy! to hide the fact that they were smoking dry cannabis flowers. Policies are tolerated! not embraced!

Our Taxes paying for 3 square meals, Rent, Power bill, Water bill , Health insurance ect. ect for people in prison for an herb . Grown adults that chose to put an herb in a plastic bag and now get kept up by our tax dollars. Think it through people. You can’t overdose on Cannabis like you can on pills and alcohol. Grown adult people should be able to choose what they want to put in their bodies. If I had to choose to be around a drunk or someone that used Cannabis I’d choose the Cannabis every time. I think medical Cannabis should be legalized in ever state.

It doesn’t legalize marijuana. It takes it off the schedule 1 list and gives states the option to continue what they’re already doing without government interference.

While people are broke and staving and need stimulus, they pass this??

  23. @pookienumnums on April 27, 2024 at 8:51 am

They should definitely pass this. The propaganda regarding the fear of the effects of this legalization on the youth is old and outdated and proven wrong. Those who are going to drink smoke or do other things are going to do it whether its legal or not. Those who arent interested wont, even if it is legal. Not everyone likes or wants to use MJ which is fine and I think they forget that. However, Look at how well it has done for the states that have legalized it.
    https://www.cbsnews.com/video/impact-of-marijuana-industry-5-years-after-legalization-in-colorado/
kids are not smoking more in co five years into the legalization, according to studies.
no dramatic spike in youth use. adults are using more though (cuz its easier to get and more affordable, duh).
    teen arrests down 20%
    black arrests actually going down

The state raked in $36.8 million in taxes and fees from cannabis sales in September.
    according to https://www.cpr.org/2020/11/11/colorado-marijuana-sales-were-down-in-september-but-people-are-still-consistently-spending-more-on-cannabis-this-year/

  24. @skylarkphillips744 on April 27, 2024 at 8:53 am

I would rather have healthy forests, fish, and animals than pot. Large scale marijuana grows are very destructive to the environment. Water is a serious issue in California, and it’s only going to get worse. Large marijuana grows divert water from streams. Planting cannabis for commercial production in remote locations is creating forest fragmentation, stream modification, soil erosion and landslides. If marijuana is grown indoors, it takes a lot of electricity and has a high carbon footprint. Producing a few pounds of weed can have the same environmental toll as driving across America seven times – harming cities’ and states’ plans to curb emissions. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/jun/20/cannabis-climate-change-fossil-fuels
