A GraphQL Journey: How Zillow Overcame Production Chaos – Dash 2020
Trulia went through a massive rewrite journey, moving to an api-gateway layer in GraphQL where we had to ensure optimized performance of all the upstream and downstream services in production at scale. In this talk Tatiana will give brief insight into why we chose GraphQL, how we organized and planned the migration, and then dive into the challenges we encountered and overcame. One focus will be on GraphQL outbound http calls which helped us identify services both upstream and downstream, identify cache needs, and minimize latency. You’ll leave with lessons learned and actionable insight into moving toward GraphQL as an api-gateway at scale.
