Gov. Newsom Pledges Marijuana Tax Overhaul To Save California's Collapsing Cannabis Industry

But now, advocates say the cannabis industry has fallen on hard times and in his budget presentation on Monday, Governor Gavin Newsom pledged his support to try to save it. John Ramos reports.

The Dems 🏳️‍🌈 promised that by legalizing Big Marijuana 🎩 they would end the illegal trade and make enough money to pave the streets in gold. Now they are admitting another epic progressive 🏳️‍🌈 fail👎

It’s too late you already pushed everyone to buy off the streets when a oz is $100-$200

legitimacy comes with perks or at least it should, show them they did the right thing by following the law and support them like any other struggling industry, then they can go back when they are fiscally sound. It reminds me of the people laughing at me as I paid at Walgreens I’m sure the street dealer are making more money and laughing at the people who took the time to go through the process.

California lawmakers were total tax whores in the 2016 negotiations and destroyed the legal market. Now they’re backpedaling. Finally they’re getting back to reality.

  15. Chris Silva on June 27, 2022 at 7:09 pm

The underground market is collapsing too .the problem is the cartels.i hate to say it but between to high of taxes and legalization with no real reporcussions for massive illegal operations the market won’t survive .canibus should be legal but you can’t have both .the market is going to collapse fully gaurateeed

In my experience dispensary weed has always been lower quality compared to what I can get from my street connections, very rarely have I been impressed by any of the bud sold in the stores.

California legislators are a bunch of ducking maria thugs democrates in california are only capable of two things taxing and spending. We the people make california thrive not those fools in Sacramento.

  24. John O'Donohue on June 27, 2022 at 7:20 pm

No wonder now we know the most preferred place to buy marijuana in CA is illicit stores which they sell untaxed products. Time to take control back from the local government and place under state umbrella like in other states.

  25. foxyladyoak on June 27, 2022 at 7:22 pm

Perhaps it can go back to being illegal – streets can be safer and people can stay clean.

  26. M J on June 27, 2022 at 7:23 pm

Plant FOOD. Like nutritious fruits and veggies instead of a useless chemically laced weed. And thx for encouraging more crime. And Mexican cartels. Good job. For a useless thing that gets people temporarily high. 👏🏻. Really really smart. 👏🏻. 👏🏻

  27. Chris Silva on June 27, 2022 at 7:24 pm

What needs to happen is they need to deregulate the industry as it’s unesscerry and they need to drop the taxes to a reasonable ammount to allow people to propagate and grow canibus to be sold in a legal market .in all honesty this corporate only can sell things mentalities is what is killing the american dream

Liberal, DemocRAT politicians love anything they can tax. Marijuana and the people who smoke it are loved by Democrats.

Right now you can literally buy a years supply (for most people) of great stuff for $100 on the traditional market.

Great stocks and I just bought in on them, but I’m interested in making short term profit, let say turn a $150K to $500k in 6months, I’d appreciate tips on how what stocks to buy to make this much profit.

  45. bengolfs1 on June 27, 2022 at 7:50 pm

They need to impose maximum taxes on cannabis sales. This is not a business we should be encouraging nor supporting in our state. But since we’re so desperate to replenish the coffers, Governor Newsom feels its ok.

  46. Duran ‘Dman’ Bodasing on June 27, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Someone needs to elevate the experience beyond just smoking a joint and putting it out. How does cannabis influence your everyday day life. Hmmmmmmm I have an idea 😉
