Dr. Staci Gruber: Clarifying Cannabis & Cognition: The Impact of Recreational and Medical Cannabis
Dr. Staci Gruber is the Director, Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Core, McLean Hospital; the Director, Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery (MIND) Program, McLean Hospital; and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School.
This video is her presentation to the Innovations in the Science of Cannabis Conference, May 17, 2021, McMaster University.
It’s not always what we do to a mind, but the mind we do it to.
Cognition has given us wars prisons and all sorts of things that can only be called evil. What a gift cannabis is to humanity.
I’m gonna sound crazy, but my religion believes cannabis is god. And I am pretty sure Dr Gruber is the prophet
It’s unfortunate that Dr. Staci Gruber’s microphone and/or audio software cuts out so much when she lowers her voice. It makes it difficult to follow effectively, IMO.
Medical Cannabis and a Good Diet are a medical necessity for all those of us who have been innocently and ignorantly consuming such hard to avoid Mitochondrial Poisonous Polyunsaturated Vegetable Oils in our diets and got one or more of many more modern thus Metabolically Caused Diseases and CANCERS. These barely existed before about 1900 when industrially manufactured Vegetable Seed Oils and foods started becoming available. You need to exclude all manufactured snacks, takeaways, restaurant fried and manufactured foods to avoid all these vegetable oils. The ideal solution for ultimate healthy longevity is to go fully VEGAN and take Cannabis Supplementation to boost your damaged Endocannabinoid System until you are better (maybe 2 years or so) while getting all vegetable seed extract, typical industrially refined cooking oils out of your diet. You certainly can use some polysaturated animal food-based oil/fat, that is in all animal products if you are not quite so ill or worried about living as long as reasonably possible while remaining perfectly healthy. Best luck from your optimally self reeducated and friendly family Dr David who wants to see you be actually cured of all the modern diseases that are definitely so dietary-based in origin. I can send you a 75-page information booklet on medical cannabis and a suitable diet from email; dgillman47@gmail.com
Thank you for your work Dr. Gruber.
Fig leaves are irritating to the skin so no…I’d say it was common knowledge back when we were smart, that it was not a fig leaf at all. Also, my level of cognitive capacity hasn’t changed a jot or tittle since being young and enjoying what I now use medicinally, so I’d say there’s neuroprotective benefits there too. It has been useful to overcome antibiotic induced appetite loss and neuropathic pain as well. I can also attest to it’s synergistic effects with aspirin. I agree with Gilman here…get the veg oils out of our diets, very bad fuel for the body.
For the longitudinal study, might the improvements in cognitive function be related to the gradually decreasing THC dosages?
Please, please, please do a clinical study on the effects of THC on the Default Mode Network. Would love to see the brain imaging of these regions!
I’ve done a number of self-experimental studies, using meditation as a baseline state, that seems to indicate that TCH inhibits the deactivation of the DMN. This is in contrast to psilocybin which significantly deactivates the DMN. When the substances are combined, they seem to create a "tug-of-war" for the DMN.
You should talk with me.
