Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏿
I do have a question: Is the process is same for manure loving mushrooms? How do you sterilize the manure?

This makes no sense whatsoever your measurements are completely wrong

  7. @javiersolis8424 on July 15, 2024 at 12:26 pm

Do you drain the water after the 24hr period?

  8. @wolfsterdescalo7051 on July 15, 2024 at 12:26 pm

Not very clear on my project. I ordered the following, 5lb-coco-coir-vermiculite-gypsum-sterilized-substrate-bag and it arrived today. Do I inject the spores into the sealed bag?

  9. @nealfallon1879 on July 15, 2024 at 12:27 pm

OK, so this makes 2 1/2 pounds which is only half of what you would need for a 3 pound spawn bag, right?

  10. @The_BigEm on July 15, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Doesn’t work, for me it somehow makes pond of excess water. I even tried adding wood pellets to the mix to absorb and it didn’t give good results. Is it the standart 237ml cup you’re using?

  11. @Canadianpatriotjedi on July 15, 2024 at 12:27 pm

I like you already lol, wish me luck

It’s so annoying when Americans suddenly start measuring things in grams.

  13. @antgaunt on July 15, 2024 at 12:28 pm

Your video’s are amazing! Thank you. Would this be enough for a 66Qt box?

  14. @MissBlackMetal on July 15, 2024 at 12:29 pm

Hey Ashley, I’ve got a question: how much spawn should we be using for this amount of substrate (1100g total of dry material + 16 cups of water)?

I know the ratio is at least 1:4 spawn to substrate, and I’ve read that people have more success with more spawn at ratios like 1:3 or even 1:2. However, we’re rehydrating the ingredients, and I just read that Coco coir absorbs a lot of water and expands by 6x – 7x its original weight, so I have no idea if the 1:2 / 1:3 spawn to substrate ratio is measured *before* or *after* adding water and massively increasing coco coir’s weight!

Your advice is greatly appreciated by this newbie! 😅

what is the exact ratio of water for 500 grams of coir?

Can I only use Coco Coir and Vermiculite?

    To P. Cubensis cultivation.

  19. @fatboy2867 on July 15, 2024 at 12:34 pm

Do I need to sterilize this bulk substrate then as well before introducing it to mycelium or not?

  20. @christopherronn8564 on July 15, 2024 at 12:34 pm

This might not get seen but, do you need to sterilize the vermiculite and coco coir in a pressure cooker before pouring it into the bucket+

  23. @MissHelium on July 15, 2024 at 12:41 pm

Thank you for your amazing videos, I was wondering which sterilisation technical I would use for my substrate because I begin in Mushroom culture 😊 now I have my answer 🙌

  24. @dcarlsonpa on July 15, 2024 at 12:42 pm

What is the best way to determine how much bulk substrate you need?

  25. @jeanmarc7326 on July 15, 2024 at 12:43 pm

    Why do you add gypsum?

  26. @urokira on July 15, 2024 at 12:43 pm

How much "spawn" like rye grain needs to be added to the mono tub?? thanks

  27. @valentinlopez-ruiz on July 15, 2024 at 12:44 pm

How much spawn is okay to use for this mix? Like a 3lb or less?

  28. @WhyteHype3 on July 15, 2024 at 12:45 pm

Are you using 500g of hydrated coco coir or 500g of non hydrated coco coir?

  29. @kooknook on July 15, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Hi, does the substrate need draining/drying at all after pasteurization? Thank you 🙏

  30. @whelkshuffler on July 15, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Thank you Boomer Shroomer, love from UK xxx

  31. @loujordan4859 on July 15, 2024 at 12:50 pm

Clear concise and to the point. About time someone did this.

  32. @nealtyson8535 on July 15, 2024 at 12:51 pm

If I’m using millet or sorghum, does the water ratio change since I’m not using Coco coir? I plan on testing for field capacity afterwards, but wanted to know if the water ratio would be more with grain compared to Coco.

  33. @isamatthews90 on July 15, 2024 at 12:51 pm

hi! so is this recipe good for 5 pounds of spawn ?

  34. @Mike_Ology on July 15, 2024 at 12:53 pm

Hiya. I followed your recipe for bunk substrate to the letter though I think it works out far too wet. The one variable was the dampness of the Coir I used, I bought a bag of Canna Coco Coir, though it was literally just damp (like maybe a towel you’d just dried your hands on). When about to use the substrate I had to squeeze each handful before adding it to my Monotub, squeezing left between 1-1.5 Litres of water in my bucket. I now realise that this was still too wet and after a load more reading and YT watching I’m fairly sure this is what has caused my mould problem. Time for a second attempt but need a less wet mix.

  35. @benihooda3330 on July 15, 2024 at 12:56 pm

if i have left over substrate can i use that again and if so how

  36. @KillerKlown707 on July 15, 2024 at 12:56 pm

approx how many pounds of substrate does this make?

  37. @talyapinto2837 on July 15, 2024 at 12:59 pm

    I got a question:

Do you need to mix before and after adding the water?

  38. @matthewcannady9116 on July 15, 2024 at 1:02 pm

How long is the mixed substrate shelf life?

  39. @shaynekimball6844 on July 15, 2024 at 1:05 pm

so i split the ingredients in half because i have only 1 mono tub and 8 cups of water didn’t seem to mix it together so i mixed it with a sterile wooden spoon and covered it. is it going to turn out the same??

  40. @alparslankzk8109 on July 15, 2024 at 1:07 pm

  41. @amandarose3961 on July 15, 2024 at 1:08 pm

Love your short & to the point videos! Thanks for making it simple and time-saving!

Question: what is the mix ratio for bricks of cococoir? I’m a newbie and bought bricks thinking it would be just as easy, plus more cost effective. Thanks in advance!

  42. @paulameredith4843 on July 15, 2024 at 1:09 pm

Today I will be getting my tub ready. Putting my 3 ingredients in the five gallon bucket now and boiling water. Really excited and really nervous

  43. @doncraig655 on July 15, 2024 at 1:11 pm

Nice. Clear and concise. A question on the gypsum. You see various values on the internet. Your substrate calls for 100 grams gypsum/ 1000 grams media, that would be 10% by weight. Any observations on the effects? Thanks.

  44. @-DivinePharaoh on July 15, 2024 at 1:11 pm

I love that you are super direct!! amazing video for one minute!! other creators have 5 minutes of just the intro lol.

  45. @sinfonia11 on July 15, 2024 at 1:13 pm

How many quarts or pounds does this recipe yield?

  46. @memo12181 on July 15, 2024 at 1:13 pm

I ordered the kit and i thought it said that its enough for 2 monotubs is this correct?

  47. @user-tu5lq5vf3p on July 15, 2024 at 1:14 pm

I used your recipe for substrate but my mycelium keeps turning green. What did I do wrong?

  48. @woodzombiie on July 15, 2024 at 1:16 pm

Can a spore or liquid culture syringe be cleaned , sanitized and reused after inoculation & everything has been injected?

  49. @JoeMorrison-jo2lz on July 15, 2024 at 1:17 pm

Hello. Thank you for this. Do you have to stir or mix before putting the lid on? Is this enough for a 3 lb grain bag?

  50. @CoreyLaGray on July 15, 2024 at 1:17 pm

I’m currently colonizing rice packets (Uncle Ben Tek). I’m using a total of three bags at 8.8 oz each. Do you think this recipe would give me the appropriate amount of substrate to support three bags of spawn? I normally use 5lbs of sub but this recipe equates to just under 2.4lbs. Curious about anyone’s thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.
