I just bought a ton of these too. The quality of the plastic is pretty nice. I’m not gonna lie I got super stoked for my grow this year watching your videos a few months ago. I love your style! I did send in for the 7 pot club card and stickers. Look out for me! Its sealed with a pepper. 🌶❤🔥

Hi Rob, This is the exciting time of year again. Owen and I have our superhots sprouting nicely and will try growing in pots this year. Every year we improve and learn a lot. Keep up the great video information as it helps everyone to improve. We have 4 Aji Charapitas and are so excited to try them this summer.

that is quite cool if it works well, very useful for some people! only thing i dont like is the size of the drainage hole in those cells, looks very small.

I already have this in my cart lol. Thanks for sharing. Keep us posted. Nice to see if it works before I buy.

  12. Daddy Chaddie on July 13, 2022 at 12:34 am

Trying to grow Aji Charapita for the first time, none of my seeds germinated 🙁 I’m guessing they need more warmth than I was providing. Have a few seeds left, hopefully I get some growing, everything else is growing fantastic so far <3 (got the seeds from Baker Creek whom I absolutely trust)

My Mother-in-law got me this same set for Christmas. Smaller trays but much easier to keep track of species writing on them with a marker. 🔥

As always, great video! I really could have used one of the taller domes this year, that’s for sure! That light in the dome could really be a game changer for a beginner grower if its powerful enough!

  17. Zachary Sierzega on July 13, 2022 at 12:49 am

I used these for my seed start this year. My set is identical to the trays shown in the unboxing at 1:00 except branded under a different name and also did not come with the light feature shown on the trays later in the video. I planted my seeds (14 different varieties, approximately 8 seeds per variety, 120 seeds total, 1 seed per cell), 16 days ago. All trays were kept on heat mats.

After one week with the dome on and the vents fully covered, I had a good amount of sprouting. I opened the vents all the way on trays that had multiple sprouts, but found that the domes retained quite a bit of moisture (to the point where the soil was feeling soaked with the vents completely closed and not much better with the vents opened) and wound up removing the domes entirely. Now, 16 days in, the domes have been off all trays for at least a week and I am at around 80% germination.

One issue I have with these trays is that they do not seem to drain well. It has been days since I have added any water and I find that the seed cells are still quite damp. I am using MiracleGro seed starting potting mix which I found drained quite well in my previous smaller tests months ago. I have noticed a slight bit of mold pop up on a couple of cells due to dampness so I have since added a fan to my setup to mitigate this issue.

I found that taking the cells out of the green trays helps drainage somewhat, but since the cells are clear, I did not want to leave them out of the trays due to fear that the clear cells may lead to algae growth under my grow lights. Maybe next year I will spray paint them.

The fact that my setup is in a somewhat cold location this year (ambient temp above the seedlings is around 66F with the heat mats/fan on) probably does not help the water retention issue. It is also possible that I added a bit too much water in my early bottom watering stages, although the amount I added to each tray looks similar to what you did.

How do you like the quality of the plastic? Did you think the grow lights worked well?

  19. Blasermann on July 13, 2022 at 12:54 am

That’s what I use and really like them. The lighted one is very interesting but unnecessary for me.

  20. Rex Tex on July 13, 2022 at 12:58 am

I’m betting the seedlings planted in the trays with the LEDs are going to bend to the lights in the humidity done and not grow straight up like they would under normal grow lights.

I must have screwed up saving some seeds from a plant last year 🙁 trying to get a 4th gen off this species and non of the seeds have sprouted and its been over a month, even my Carolina reapers sprouted after a week

  22. W0rp3D on July 13, 2022 at 12:59 am

Just bought one of these, what’s the update on the results?
