Maximizing Cannabis Yields with Dr Bruce Bugbee

Maximizing Cannabis Yields with Dr Bruce Bugbee

Dr. Bruce Bugbee gives a game-changing master class for cannabis growers on optimizing cardinal growth parameters to maximize yields (see below for time-stamps of topics). In the video he gives very specific recommendations for light levels, photo-periods, temperature, media, nutrients, humidity, and more. Bruce is a world-renowned professor and researcher at Utah State University’s Crop Physiology Lab, an ASA Fellow, president of Apogee Instruments, and is known for his extensive work with NASA plant growth systems. Bruce’s lab at USU received a license to research medical hemp in 2018 and has been conducting high-level research on strains and optimal cultivation methods to maximize CBD yields in hemp flower buds.

To see Bruce give a tour of the lab, check out:

Is this the only place to get accrue info about growing weed on the entire internet? I think so.

Nice one. Learned a lot. THANK YOU!!

You’ve already used more ink than stoners can handle, but to be accurate, you would also need to account for the absorption spectrum of the leaves

  6. Cheeba Cheeo on September 8, 2022 at 1:59 pm

Not too much activity here 😂 beside my previously asked question about the ppm I wonder did I get the gypsum and lime dosage right… Gypsum about 0,5tsp/10l and lime about 1TS/10l? I made first a test batch and messed up that pretty badly and wanted to get some affirmations about my calculations 👍

what’s better to start with? Rain water or tap water,Or did i miss that?

Can i use this subtrate mixture if I’m growing with salts ?

  10. Jason Keeney on September 8, 2022 at 2:04 pm

How long does it take for the peat ph to raise with the lime and gypsum?

  11. sheldon caldwell on September 8, 2022 at 2:05 pm

Amazing Information. Thank you once again . When talking light quality , and consistency, are there any major differences between gas vs semiconductor, There’s quite a few people with a lot of videos where they are mostly trial and error , and no explaining because most people cannot , myself included . Would your quantum sensors pick up any major differences between the different light sources or are we just aiming to hit that daily limit overall? Not talking Kelvin or wattage , just overall quality of light output . Sun CRI , vs led and cmh . It can be a overwhelming thing when your about to spend money , especially when your trying to be frugal . Bang for buck . Or is that a never ending debate with ever changing environments.

Any reason why you can’t reuse the water that collects in the tray after watering rather than throwing it?

  13. Anders Eriksson on September 8, 2022 at 2:06 pm

How much should you break down, crack down or crumble down the peat? In size I mean, how large should the pieces be when mixing with vermiculite?

  14. DOCUDRAMA on September 8, 2022 at 2:09 pm

If u run 1500 umols of light at 12 inches away from your plant you deserve to kill your plant

  15. Rueban Castro on September 8, 2022 at 2:12 pm

…at that point it’s hard to keep everything watered. 😂

  16. Ugotum Outdoors on September 8, 2022 at 2:14 pm

One thing I don’t think you covered is the PH of your nutrient solution. Are you delivering your nutrients at a PH of 5.5 ? Thanks for all you are doing I learn a lot from watching you.

Is the 20-10-20 nutes for during veg?

  23. Chris L on September 8, 2022 at 2:21 pm

So . . . it’s a simple as using Jack’s 20-10-20 from veg all the way through flower?!?

    Great

  29. maciej wie on September 8, 2022 at 2:24 pm

23.46 is this volume prrcentage or weight percentage. I imagine that vermiculite is very light (as is perlite for example). So Same weight would mean a tons of perlite. If that relates to the same volume of vmct and peat it makes more sense to me

When you don’t get to go to college this sort of lecture is just priceless. I wish he did an extended series of these with all the science and material.

Awesome video great information thank you sir!

  39. ron bojonski on September 8, 2022 at 2:38 pm

What should the water and fertilizer mix be before feeding?

  40. QUALITYREVIEWS on September 8, 2022 at 2:39 pm

Dr. Bruce , I have seeds I am having great difficulty germinating. They are old but they are of great value to me . I know you talked about soaking seeds in gibberellic acid overnight? Am I getting that correct .

  41. M JE on September 8, 2022 at 2:40 pm

Im from the other side of the world. You dont wanna know where it is. Haha. Thank you for this free information. Im going to break the law here just to give my people their affordable, clean, organically grown medicine. I know im not doing any evil here and not saying Im a saint. I also done a lot of bad decision in my life and growing weed as medicine for my people is now my only mission.

  42. Cheeba Cheeo on September 8, 2022 at 2:41 pm

The ideal ppm can’t be correct, right? Tap water can easily be 100- 300ppm… is the somethings I dint get?

  43. Da Lnpster on September 8, 2022 at 2:41 pm

Great video, thank you! Just a few questions…
. When you mix the media, is it 50/50 by weight or volume?
. What is the blue powder fertiliser?
. If container growing outside is it advisable to cover the plant overnight to eliminate light pollution?

  44. Ethan McCormack on September 8, 2022 at 2:42 pm

I use vermiculite for my tarantula enclosures to help with keeping humidity in the substrate. If you have a pet shop that sells invertebrates then they might also sell vermiculite or can ask if they can order it in.

  45. MusicForHours on September 8, 2022 at 2:44 pm

I’ve got a standard 93 starlet and that’s a lot of fun🤗🤗can’t imagine how much fun the turbo would be 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  48. Holliday on September 8, 2022 at 2:45 pm

Love dude, but how can he generalize 20-10-20 as all you would need? For veg yes but not for flower right?

  49. Brightfart2 on September 8, 2022 at 2:45 pm

Elsewhere there’s enough BS about plant nutrition to feed all the plants in the world. Here’s some proper info.

  50. cious li on September 8, 2022 at 2:46 pm

Thank you for this lecture. Do you also do research on plants grown in hydroponic systems? A lecture about cannabis in hydro would be amazing.
