Adding Sugars To Cannabis Plants Guide – Molasses, Corn Syrup or Honey

Adding Sugars To Cannabis Plants Guide – Molasses, Corn Syrup or Honey

Today on Lex’s World, let’s talk adding sugars to your marijuana plants! This is a common additive that growers use; we’ll talk about how much sugar to use, when to apply it – flowering or vegetative – and which sugar is best. I linked to some decent ones below. IMPORTANT NOTE: sugars, like anything else you add to your water such as flowering nutrients, should only be added roughly every 2nd watering. NOT on every single watering. I always alternate plain water and additives-filled water.

I dont grow pot, . but I do use the same principles, but with cut & cut again Lettuce, or Rocket Arugula in Plastic Kiddie wading pools, slide easily on my carpet, use only the small round pools so you can slide from room to room, or best to use the Cement mixing square black plastic tubs, they are beveled on ends, slide easily. on carpet, add a sheet of insulation, . Bio Vega nutriment!!! 😉

  7. english1midlands on September 11, 2022 at 2:28 pm

I read that Molasses only feed certain Microbes, the microbes beneficial to flowering so shouldn’t be used during the Veg cycle.I now use honey and a touch of molasses during veg then the other way around during flowering. It seems to make a difference. My pure white roots now cover half the bottom of a 15ltr fabric pot after only 4wks.It could be due to the different strains Iv been using but I doubt it.I do rate the Biosys Tea from Ecothrive.

Good video. My plants are in a garden grow. They are going through 2nd week of flower. My question is how much of the one gallon mix of molasses and water do I add per plant? Thanks

  13. dalan wanbdiska on September 11, 2022 at 2:35 pm

I tried to add a batch of molasses only and it turned all me leaves yellow. I added the nutrients again and calmag to get it back to green. Now its healthy. I know when you add brown sugar that it turns the leaves green if they are yellow. I tried this last grow because i was testing to see if the buds get more sticky with brown sugar, i added it during the fade and my plant turned green again. Im not too sure what regular white sugar does?

  14. Rodion Romanovich on September 11, 2022 at 2:37 pm

I knew a guy who used to give each of his babies a can of mountain dew a week before harvest

  15. Ryan Daniel on September 11, 2022 at 2:39 pm

If not organic, do you have to pH the water after adding molasses?

    USE RedBull sugar+vitaminB 🙂

  23. Rich Lewis on September 11, 2022 at 2:50 pm

Take molasses and add a bunch of vegetables to a sealed plastic container and let it ferment for 4-5 days , venting it 1-2 times day . Take that and run it through a filter and pour this into the soil in the morning so you dont over saturate the soil at night when they breathe . Start just as it is flowering so the enzymes in this mix can break down the soil around the roots and super feed your plant for healthy buds . Try using a mix of rose fertilizers at this time too . Grab the three that have the highest nitrogen , phosphorous and potassium . Mix them up and spray on the plant itself in the morning . Watch how colorful and fruity your buds get =) . Your welcome !

What if it’s in a garden? My plants 11ft and 7ft around. Has a great stalk and started to flower/bud. Seems like it’s sucking all nutrients to my plant so I already added my sugars a few days ago 1 gallon. Can I get away with every other day just add my sugars or still too much? I haven’t grown in about 25-28 yrs so I did it like I did in the early 90s and I remember I came out pretty good.

  28. Lex Blazer on September 11, 2022 at 2:57 pm

Woah! You did NOT just scroll down into the comments and forget to subscribe, did ya? DID YA? 🙂 Didn’t think so. A note on the directions in this video: like with all additives you mix into your water, you should not be adding your sugars on every single watering…I recommend to add nutrients only every 2nd watering, and the same goes for adding sugars during flowering.

  30. k Lu on September 11, 2022 at 2:59 pm

Consult with a soil scientist before embarrassing yourself further. Microbes feed on CARBON and Nitrogen that sugar has but a ratio is only 9 parts Carbon to 1 part Nitrogen. Microbes need a diet of a Carbon to Nitrogen ratio of 24:1 so sugar isn’t adequate. mature alfalfa hay has a C:N ratio of 25 to 1 and much much better to feed microbes. Even rotted manure is better with a C:N ratio of 20 to 1 than sugar. Wheat straw’s ratio is 80 to 1 and would make the microbes consume nitrogen from the soil and what you add and would would a disaster. If you desire to be an arm couch farmer educate yourself. Pot is a crop.

I mainly add molasses to feed my living bacteria in my soil from the beneficial microbial teas i make. I have a ph down and fish emulsion in one that also works well to feed the microbial life.

  38. Serg47 on September 11, 2022 at 3:03 pm

I’ve heard that adding molasses will cause your plants to start guttating. (releasing the sugar and looking like sap is coming from the bud)

  41. GEEKIN HARD on September 11, 2022 at 3:04 pm

I don’t think molasses makes you plants sweeter. But it does increase your terpenes, and make your bud smell stronger. It could make it sweeter if the bud naturally has sweet terpenes, and the molasses brings those terpenes even further.

Molasses will kill honey bees outdoor. FYI Regular white table sugar has not gone through the chemical transformation to release it.

On my first grow using molasses and I am seeing some better bud formation a bit sooner! Good stuff! I have been growing for 37 years without it, but I use banana peel tea which may be of help with the carbohydrates for the soil microbes.
