Hey, so this is how I water my marijuana plants that are growing in coco. You want to water everyday, unlike soil because coco is a hydroponics media.

Check out my website for how to grow weed. It is an easy way to find my videos and other tips like feeding charts.

http://growpotcheaply.com

Their are a few reasons for this.

1. Coco holds 30% oxygen when fully saturated.
2. If you let coco dry out, you will get lower yields and most likely nutrient issues because when the coco dries out, it leaves dry spots, where the roots dry up and die. That causes issues.
3. When you water every day or twice a day or ever three times a day, you are replacing all the oxygen the plant used up, thus letting it grow faster. You are also replacing any nutrients the plant used up with fresh nutrients. This is why I water every day with nutrients.
4. You get hydroponic results. Fast growth. Bigger yields.

Yes, this is part of the course on how I grow marijuana in coco.

Hey man sorry to reply on an old video. But for autoflowers in coco should I cut my dose down? I run 1/4 strength of green planets dual fuel line-up in Promix hp and run into issues. Switching to coco but same nutes, should I run them full or 1/2 strength? Or less? Also their pro-cal (cal/mag essentially) doesn’t appear to have a feed chart, just says 4.5ml/L on the back, should I run that full strength? And when should I start? In Promix I usually feed day 10, is that fine for coco or should I feed from day 1?

    -thanks 🙂

So do you add nutrients every feed

  4. Garry Surplice on May 15, 2022 at 7:25 pm

I’m watering 5/6 times per day. Using a Coco perlight mix. Last water at 9pm, first watering at 7am, then 11, 3, 6 then 9. By the morning there’s no overflow left in the tray, and 4 plants take 1 litre each time. Great results so far.

What Coco do you use? I’m using canna Coco and you can definitely overwater in this type of Coco. U can get many different particle sized Coco coir from coarse to fine plus fibers and Coco chunks.
Go to the canna Coco website and they also say you can overwater Coco and if the coco is kept wet all the time the roots can get a fungal infection.. I have canna Coco and ugro Coco and you can clearly see the difference in the particle size. The plants in Coco do not look like a overwatered plant in soil but you’ll notice a slower growth because the roots are stressed and have a hard time to uptake the nutrients and the root growth is also slowed down. I think the right Coco coir plays a big role if you can water it daily or not.
I had healthier roots in canna Coco after giving them a wet/dry cycle and I started watering daily after the plants started to suck up all water within 24 hours and increased the feeding to two times per day in flower or the coco would have become bone dry and that should not happen in Coco because of salt building up and the roots can be damaged.
I run a grow with canna Coco atm and I’m watering daily even the pots are heavy in weight. I notice slower growth and way less root development. The plants don’t die in Coco if you water too much but they are slowed down.
Next grow im using a coarser Coco coir and will also water it daily to see the difference in the canna Coco and the b’cuzz bounce Coco 😉
My temperature and humidity are in a good range, I have a good ventilated room and the plants don’t sit in the runoff(in soil they also shouldn’t stay in the runoff lol)
I will update every week or so how my plants are lookin and the root mass.
    Sorry for my bad English

If I water everyday how much nutrients should I put in every time?
Won’t I overfeed if I feed each time I water the plant?

Picking up on what you mentioned, on how you applied the sand intermittently layering it between coco as preventitive measure to any possible threats of pests.

Q: How many layers of sand and what kind are you finding most effective?

    Thanks !

Can I use just coco coir without mixing anything with it? Maybe put some rocks in the bottom of the pot for run-off?

  27. Brian Rae on May 15, 2022 at 7:53 pm

Ive been following Mr grow its advice and letting the coco dry out before feeding!….im in 5th week and although they are looking healthy, they are not tall and have weedy stalks….
I did resist the urge to water and this was because it was recommended! ,wish id watched this vid first…..will be starting tomm with a 1 or 2 times feed a day and see what happens !

Great video. One point I am in disagreement on is feeding seedlings plain water for the first two weeks. Yes the seed can feed the plant for the first two weeks of life, but that doesn’t mean its optimal for the plant. In theory once the plant has a tap root it can handle full strength nutrients. If you don’t want the plant to fall behind I would feed using at least 500 ppm after week 1

I kept waiting for the coco to dry before I fed it that’s where I kept going wrong

I imagine the fertilizers you are using is coco enhanced. [ would like to know ]

As for myself I learned of that sort of fertilizer, after already purchasing and using a regular multi bottled fertilizer.
On the upnside I bought into a " ph perfect " system of fertilizer.

I have managed pretty well, although am at a point where I am studying further to understand how to correct obvious deficiencies .

This video reassures me I have done well and by adhering to your main directive here, success in inevitable .

Interested to know what fert you like for getting the magnificent results you have acheived.

    Cheers !🍷🍺🍹🍸

Does moisture meter work on coco? I noticed mine still says wet+ after a month of no watering but pot is super light.. my plant is calathea dottie btw. Thx!

  41. Leonie Miano on May 15, 2022 at 8:04 pm

So adding dry amendments in coco coir is not a good idea? I see people on you tube mixing organic gaja green dry into the coco then just watering the rest of the plants life up to mid harvest.
