Interesting… Why not keep a shackle around instead?

  2. Mr E on February 14, 2023 at 3:08 pm

Why don’t you close that tighter? I would think the closer that hole is to the rest of the chain would give it a bit more strength to that link

  3. The One And Only Carlton on February 14, 2023 at 3:09 pm

Gets alot stronger if you Peen the end once it through.

Nothing more annoying than when you out In The deep woods logging and your chain breaks and you realize you left your heavy duty bench vise at home uugghh

  6. Brucey69 on February 14, 2023 at 3:12 pm

Wish I was a home owner so I was encouraged to try this repair

  7. Markus on February 14, 2023 at 3:12 pm

Wouldn’t a threaded C-link work in this application? Be easier and stronger.

  8. BuzzLaw on February 14, 2023 at 3:13 pm

  9. Five Nines Fine on February 14, 2023 at 3:19 pm

  10. Area 53 on February 14, 2023 at 3:21 pm

here’s a video that every professional logge…. homeowner should watch, you only need a workshop vice out in the field to repair your logging chains.

  11. Chris S on February 14, 2023 at 3:22 pm

I don’t think it’s clamped far enough I’d say you’d want a good tail sticking out but I really dk

  12. mgmartinec on February 14, 2023 at 3:22 pm

Why wouldn’t you just use a shackle or a clasp which requires no vise?

  13. Mary Ann Schlear on February 14, 2023 at 3:23 pm

    Thanks 👍🫡

  14. Magnum Muscle on February 14, 2023 at 3:23 pm

You aren’t using a logging chain without something to pull it with… HINT: a truck or a skid steer. Your vice is on the truck. And, lots of rural homeowners log their own property or cut firewood in the forest. You people are city folks obviously.

  15. Kelly Birchfield on February 14, 2023 at 3:23 pm

I’m sorry but this is how you fix a logging chain for all u homeowners 😆 gotta love it

  16. Mike B on February 14, 2023 at 3:26 pm

Yes, emergency field repair on a logging change for a home owner. Just in case your logging tools break

  17. Daniel on February 14, 2023 at 3:27 pm

  18. tim madison on February 14, 2023 at 3:27 pm

I always have a bench vise with me out in the field.

  19. joah pineapple on February 14, 2023 at 3:27 pm

the forest service carries mounted vices in their field kit?

  20. Thomas Foolery on February 14, 2023 at 3:28 pm

Excuse me sir, what if you were to do a quick tac weld on the end of the replacement link….would that add to the strength ?

  21. RedneckBaller on February 14, 2023 at 3:28 pm

I’ve used these before but after i would peen the end to secure a little better

  22. Tee Withey on February 14, 2023 at 3:31 pm

What even is a rofessional home owner?

  23. James Jones on February 14, 2023 at 3:31 pm

    That is ignorant.

  24. gareth kalum on February 14, 2023 at 3:31 pm

I mean, couldn’t you just use a padlock until you get to the shop?

  25. Jacob E on February 14, 2023 at 3:34 pm

    Damn bro by 2/3’s?

  26. Mike Hunt on February 14, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Who has a vice in the field?

  27. Kevin nobody on February 14, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Or I could just bolt the 2 pieces together with a grade 8 bolt, nut, and flat washers and get back to work.

  28. psn64sat63 on February 14, 2023 at 3:37 pm

You know, it’s funny. Right after I bought my first house, I thought, I better figure out how to temporarily repaid a logging chain"

  29. Eric B on February 14, 2023 at 3:37 pm

    why not just a shackle?

  30. Craig Sharpe on February 14, 2023 at 3:38 pm

    Shackle maybe?

  31. George Tasick on February 14, 2023 at 3:39 pm

Yes! I definitely need a logging chain for my yard with no trees.

  32. Adkancap Adventures on February 14, 2023 at 3:40 pm

It seems like a d-link, a shackle or a grab hook would be much more practical in the field.

  33. Red light on February 14, 2023 at 3:41 pm

Give it a spot weld and she’s good as new 😂

  34. Joe L. on February 14, 2023 at 3:41 pm

    I’ve been learning a lot

  35. Yamaszlof Mcdurkin on February 14, 2023 at 3:42 pm

Whatever you were doing snapped the chain. This isn’t going to help!

  36. dancing_odie on February 14, 2023 at 3:47 pm

Im a welder. I’d get that sucker nice and strong

  37. William Smith on February 14, 2023 at 3:50 pm

When you chained up your victims is that what you use

  38. Matthew Heinze on February 14, 2023 at 3:50 pm

Do not use these. Get the actual repair. All need is the part and pliers for the cotter pins. Don’t need a vice in the field…..

  39. Matthew de Oliveira on February 14, 2023 at 3:52 pm

Why not just carry an extra link that screws together

  40. DCSTONE308 on February 14, 2023 at 3:55 pm

I absolutely love this dude and his content, I just wish he would wear shoes.

  42. Backwoods Homestead on February 14, 2023 at 3:56 pm

tack weld it at the end?

  43. War of Truth on February 14, 2023 at 3:56 pm

A nut, bolt and 2 washes, if it’s the right kind it’s stronger than the chain

  44. chuck sneed on February 14, 2023 at 3:57 pm

    i just use a clevis

  45. ZchryPlys on February 14, 2023 at 4:00 pm

    A vice in the field?

  46. Kusina at Patalim on February 14, 2023 at 4:00 pm

Pin or Weld the end part.

  47. -Dimensional-Mind- on February 14, 2023 at 4:01 pm

Can you do a video where you wouldn’t have a vice on hand in the woods please? Lol
