Smokable marijuana now sold for medicinal use in Louisiana

Smokable, flower form of marijuana, is now legally being sold in Louisiana for medicinal use.

These new products are now being sold at nine dispensaries in the state, including H&W Dispensary in New Orleans.

“November of ’19 I had my knee replaced and the best way to get off of opioids was this,” one patient said. “For those of us of a certain age, its nostalgia. It hasn’t been messed with, it’s natural, it hasn’t been processed or added to.”

A new law legalized smokable marijuana in the state at the start of the year. Before, only tinctures, gummies, creams and non-smokable forms were sold.

Why on earth do people drink to excess, smoke heroin, meth or crack when God gave us this wonderful plant? All I can say is people’s experiences in life are different and it unfortunately leads them to ruination in ways my own life didn’t, and as for the rest, some people are just flat out crazy. Well, anyway I chalk this up as good news. Weed was never illegal when America started, so spare me the moralizing horsedung, any of you reading this who feel a puritanical spark welling up in you.

I recommend everyone do their research and check out the prices in other medical/recreational states and see this state is exploiting everyone in the program. As a disabled veteran with PTSD who knows how effective this medicine is for people in multiple different ways; its very sad and frustrating to see my home state, that I came back to because of this medical program, doing this type of thing. We feel lied to since they said flower would be the cheaper alternative. We see what the real objective is here…..why else would it be set up as a duopoly and so restricted? To keep high prices because of no competition.

Prices are $15 and $25 more than top tier flower at a recreational dispensary. Then they tax it. Medical MJ is tax free or reduced in real states

Louisiana is so far behind. People and the economy as a whole is suffering without full recreational legalization.

BS they try to get rich out of Medical Marijuana cardholders. I’m a California weed grower and it only cost $1 an ounce from electric to grow it in large farm. $25 a gram is not cheap, when they grow ounces for $1 of electricity in a farm. Plus Louisiana is the lowest income state in the US. $25 a gram is out rages. That almost $400 an ounce, that much more expensive than Massachusetts and Massachusetts income is 3 time much more then Louisiana. This is fully BS.

Fun fact, THC is not a reliable indicator of potency

It can take me up to an hour to get my medicine at my favorite dispensary here in Florida and that’s given a choice of 13 dispensaries in 25 miles range and 49 dispensaries in a 50 mile radius from my home in Cocoa Beach Florida. I go once a week. how are a whole states worth of patients going to get sufficient medicine from so few dispensaries?
With 220,000 medical patients in Florida sharing 330 dispensaries, it’s hard to see how the people of just Baton Rouge could get meds. How few patients are in LA with only 1.0 dispensaries? However the reality is the entire state is distributing medicine with less distribution resources than that.
And if they Just open the front door and handed each person that had a patient ID a bag of cannabis without any further questions they couldn’t possibly process the meds for patients in a rushed way of just one city let alone an entire state.
Again I must ask how few cancer multiple sclerosis ALS Parkinson’s etc how few sick people are there in Louisiana?
how close do you have to be to death in Louisiana before they’ll prescribe medical cannabis?
How is so few dispensaries not harmful by the description that makes medical cannabis legal and beneficial?
Read your state’s report on medical cannabis and why it needs to be made "accessible" and see how inconsistent the current system is with what the medical system in Louisiana says is necessary and reasonable for cannabis.
Watching videos and reading about Louisiana, I can’t see how the state could possibly fulfill my doctors recommendations for me as one example.
