3:26 You can fix this in the BIOS. Setting the dedicated VRAM amount to only like 128MB will have ZERO impacts on iGPU performance.

  2. All about Nature on August 27, 2023 at 6:55 pm

Can u suggest a AMD laptop under 1000 dollar

  3. Edwin V on August 27, 2023 at 6:57 pm

Wait how do you do the bios update?

  4. Attention2detail on August 27, 2023 at 6:59 pm

I got the Ryzen 7 5700u/16gb version of this bad boy. The flexing has almost gone in the 2021 variant, and the 250 nits brightness is perfectly fine for indoor use.

  5. xephur on August 27, 2023 at 6:59 pm

Ryzen laptops are the way to go.

I’ve got an Asus Zenbook with a Ryzen 5 4500u (6-core) and an Nvidia MX350 discrete GPU. (Close to an Nvidia 1050)

Found it on sale at Best Buy for $550. Has an AMAZING screen! What an absolute steal.

It’s SUCH a good laptop. I can run current-gen games at medium-high settings and 30-60 FPS.

Go Ryzen for sure. They’ve done it.

  6. ThePhantomDX on August 27, 2023 at 7:00 pm

421 dollars for a Lenovo Ideapad, with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500u and a Vega 8. i was so shocked

  7. BadKingAce on August 27, 2023 at 7:03 pm

Ryzen next move will probably be a mobile phone lol

  8. MISTER AGB on August 27, 2023 at 7:08 pm

Intel’s U processors have always sucked lol

  9. Harvey brooks on August 27, 2023 at 7:09 pm

I have a asus vivobook 15 f512da with a 3500u, vega 8, 2x4gb ddr4 dual channel for gpu and one is soldered onto the mobo. I play minecraft w10, arma 3, 7 days to die, operation flashpoint dragon rising, the forest. it plays awesome. note to anyone that would get a laptop with a 3500u do not make a custom power profile. use the corp provided power plan and customize it to your needs "full custom plan resulting in throttles automatically even thought it is not hot". first step to do is optimize your power plan, second step is to get ryzen controller and make two OC plans for battery and plugged in. battery plan cpu at 15w and gpu at 50w, plugged plan cpu at 35w and gpu at 70w 1200mhz. this setup will bring your gaming to 10fps-15fps increase plugged in. and the second will make it not stuttery while on battery. hope this helps for y’all with r5 3500u issues with stutters <3

  16. Galio Justice Justice on August 27, 2023 at 7:13 pm

    1:29 hehehe "Ryzen shines"

  17. Gurs on August 27, 2023 at 7:13 pm

Intel and Nvidia are done. Trying to monopolize the gaming market by charging premium prices for underperforming hardware. AMD all the way.

  18. Amal Joe on August 27, 2023 at 7:14 pm

how does ryzen 5 3500U compare to 11th gen i3? and the integrated graphics? anyone ?

  19. Bane on August 27, 2023 at 7:16 pm

Thing is Intel tdp is both cpu+gpu, while ryzen is only reporting cpu 15w,

  20. Pooja Yadav on August 27, 2023 at 7:16 pm

Hey linus can you unbox Lenovo IdeaPad s145 under 420$

  21. Михаил Михайлов on August 27, 2023 at 7:17 pm

2:51 No Linus, that’s not how it works. Chances are when it boosts to 40W, it doesn’t get exactly 2x as fast as the chips running at 20W. You should know better that a Ryzen CPU at 70W isn’t half as powerful as an overclocked Ryzen at 130-140W. Even if you take other components that have constant battery consumption of around 3W into account, the difference between 0.8s and 1s is negligible, but Intel had to work twice as hard (and so did the battery and the poor VRMs) to edge out a victory in Word.

  22. Xenomorf on August 27, 2023 at 7:17 pm

I got a Ryzen 3 3300U that is close performance to the Ryzen 5 3500U with 6Gb of ram and a 1Tb hard drive and a 256GB SSD just for 440 dollars i don’t how I got that deal

  23. C on August 27, 2023 at 7:17 pm

    This did not age well.

I want to buy a laptop that has integrated graphics vega 11, any suggestions?

  30. rubbad on August 27, 2023 at 7:29 pm

I just grabbed the 4500u version of this one and it slapps, great build quality and feature set for the price.

  31. J Y on August 27, 2023 at 7:29 pm

based on my experience, because of the desirability for AMD Ryzen chips in laptops. The price has increased, sellers has started hoarding stocks and selling them with over-the-board pricing.

  32. Weirdo on August 27, 2023 at 7:29 pm

Ngl i like the ryzen before the update if ya know what i mean

  33. meeeair on August 27, 2023 at 7:31 pm

  34. Stefzia on August 27, 2023 at 7:33 pm

Is the r5 3500u still relevant for 600 euros? (Mid 2021)

  35. Nexus71c on August 27, 2023 at 7:35 pm

I’ve been looking at this laptop lately, as I’m mainly just wanting it for casual use. I already have an awesome desktop, but I just need a good enough laptop to replace my decade old Win 7 one.
Kind of sucks its now $680 on Amazon… I have no idea whether I should even get this or what…

  36. Fanyシ on August 27, 2023 at 7:37 pm

    Now it cost 729

  37. VIVID on August 27, 2023 at 7:37 pm

I actually have this laptop and I 100% percent recommend it i didn’t play triple A games on it I tried Overwatch and I had between 120 to 150 fps on medium settings. I mostly use it for school btw. and it was 800$ in where I live.

  38. edwq dd on August 27, 2023 at 7:37 pm

  40. cyber claw on August 27, 2023 at 7:38 pm

Lol this video was soo wrong about the future. Ryzen 5 4500u shreds cpu wise vs i5 10th gen.

  41. Darren Bosman on August 27, 2023 at 7:39 pm

Before buying any Lenovo product- be aware and be prepared for the worst customer experience of your life. The service we have received from Lenovo Africa has been disgusting, the lack of customer care, their attitude towards a warranty claim (screen malfunctioning), and general attitude of all parties involved is disgusting to say the least. I would strongly advise anyone considering any Lenovo Product think again, and look elsewhere.

  42. Age of Reason on August 27, 2023 at 7:39 pm

It would change the landscape if it wasn’t a such a dead beat dad.

  43. JalynZweerink on August 27, 2023 at 7:39 pm

I know it’s been a year since you made this video but in lenovo’s not making this computer anymore and you can find it on Amazon for $800😥.

  44. Akina on August 27, 2023 at 7:40 pm

  46. Slickbait on August 27, 2023 at 7:43 pm

Got one of those bad boys with 8 gigs of RAM, did NOT disappoint me and I don’t think I’m gonna be changing, not at least for 2 years now

  47. Foysal Khan on August 27, 2023 at 7:44 pm

In 2021 this laptop costs so much more that it doesn’t make sense at all

  48. CtrliPhones on August 27, 2023 at 7:48 pm

I didn’t even know Linus did a review on this thing, I’m watching this video on the exact same laptop right now!
