Hey man, great set up! I was wondering how often do you clean the water deposit, and what special care do you take to keep the deposit free of bacteria? Thanks and kee it up!

I’m going to do a similar set up using perlite and vermiculite instead of coco. I’m debating on using a hempy bucket drain style or a normal bottom drain. With the hempy bucket I think I could water once a day. What would your opinion be?

Thanks for your share of your set up . I have a couple questions if you can help out an old timer who hasn’t ever hydro grew of any kind. My seeds never reached me this year by mail (covid19) customs and so my outside grow is months behind schedule . So I am considering the drain to waist coco coir system outside and wanted any advice you may have as far as setup and medium ? Pot size? Pot type? I am thinking 3 or 4 plants. Thanks for any help in advance, PoppyJ

How much run off do you have each time you water?

  12. Jacob Mcfarland on July 14, 2022 at 2:17 am

I had the same problem with siphoning. I installed a T on the pvc coming out of the pump with a ball valve pointing up. Bam no more siphon

  13. Daniel J on July 14, 2022 at 2:20 am

To avoid the siphon effect just drill a hole on your pvc that above the water line at its highest. It will send out a little jet of water and provide a air gap to prevent siphoning when the pump is off.

hey, are you still responding to comments from people who want to ask you some questions on coco?

  15. Winston Zeb on July 14, 2022 at 2:24 am

So how do you control the nutrients in the water? Is that just normal water?

  16. Tony Danza on July 14, 2022 at 2:31 am

My cousin is ready for this. He’s been growing for about 2 years and recently switched to coco. Big difference! The plants are about 2’ tall in 1 gallon pots. They barely last 24 hours between watering. This system is ideal.

What a trash set up. You can’t seriously be proud of that. It’s leaking all over the place.

  18. canopy@420 on July 14, 2022 at 2:36 am

What size pots are you using ?

  19. outdoor trails on July 14, 2022 at 2:41 am

Install a siphon breaker..made from pvc directly in the discharge line

  20. Trayvon Leonard on July 14, 2022 at 2:46 am

    Any problems with clogging?

  21. Black Macgyver on July 14, 2022 at 2:49 am

Nice setup. By using the other pump to circulate the water would you still need an air stone ?

  22. Mr Mooch on July 14, 2022 at 2:51 am

Take a dripper or tiny piece of pipe at your first elbow and point it to fall back into the res. It will break the siphon.

  23. Ricardo on July 14, 2022 at 2:53 am

What nutrients do you use ?

  24. Mike Ess on July 14, 2022 at 2:53 am

    Looks great.
What timer for the irrigation did you go with? And what kind of tray do you recommend using to have the “waste” water go into? Thanks man
