Cannabis Culture – An Indigenous Perspective

Cannabis Culture – An Indigenous Perspective

Getting into the cannabis industry represents a chance to assert economic and political sovereignty. The Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, Kahnawake and Kanesatake — are looking at community based approaches, each vying to establish its own cannabis legislation and bylaws. This new and emerging ‘Cannabis Culture’ doesn’t come without passionate debates or political pushback from within each community. Journalist Regan Jacobs travels to each territory to get an indigenous perspective on the issue.

It all comes down to "I’m just tired of being poor" and it’s an excuse to make money,no matter who gets hurt, just like Tobacco.

I’m so glad that in America all of the first Nation people appreciate cannabis and its many beautiful uses! it makes me sad because I’m sure there are so many in this tribe that would benefit so greatly from medical cannabis and I know that they said they accept medical cannabis but it seems that they accept medical cannabis with extreme prejudice! and I understand that because the most disgusting thing that could ever happened was thrust upon them by the white man, and I guess if I was in the same shoes and a white man said "hey come smoke with me" I would have to think, are you getting into the same stuff that you got me into couple hundred years ago with that fire water? So it’s not that I don’t understand, I’m just praying that they can come to embrace it as a medicine and part of their culture
