Clonex Review – Rooting hormone test

Clonex Review – Rooting hormone test

In this video we’ll be looking at Clonex Rooting Gel and doing some trials to compare propagation results with and without Clonex being used. I compare Clonex to controls with peppers, basil, sage, rosemary and a flowering plant.

Let me know how you propagate your plants and any thoughts you have on these Clonex products!

I really appreciate this kind of testing vid.

Your experiments are always fun to watch. I’ve got cloned tomatoes, cucumbers, and fig trees growing right now, and always wanting to improve my grow tech.

Hi. Do you propagate fruit trees from cuttings with success ?

  6. @nikushim6665 on March 2, 2024 at 7:29 am

Clone x does in fact work. However should be noted there are multiple types of rooting hormone, sometimes plants respond differently depending on the hormone. I normally use a mix of NAA (Naphthaleneacetic acid) and TBA (Indole-3 butyric acid) in my cloners. Gels in general are not meant water rooting, they are more so for starter plugs like root riot or going directly in soil. You better of with the liquid solution versions of these products for water rooting.

What kinda gel is the rooting medium?

Why did you contaminate the bottle of root hormone? 🙀🥺🙁

No annoying Background music. No way to loud intro music. Noone jumping into the picture yelling "HEY YOUTUBE WHATS UP?"
No shaking camera. No begging for upvotes and subsriptions. No sponsors. just right to the point compact unbiased info – even with a control group.
This the kind of video I am digging for. Only downside is that I can just give one thumb up instead of 3! (Also the samplesizes were really small)
    Keep up the good work!!

I am using Clonex in soil with Australian native Callistemon cuttings and getting mixed results. Have you done any testing like this? I think its a harder wood so not as easy to strike? But i am new and open to suggestions so any advice is appreciated 🙏

Peer review: Did you read the clone x gel directions? It is not made for cloning in water. It is made for cloning into a substrate. Secondly you should not dip the plant into the bottle but rather a different container and throw away any unused gel that plants were dipped into.

  24. @MsDumptyHumpty on March 2, 2024 at 8:15 am

I have clone x too. Even though i use a substrate, i have wondered about this way of propogating with it. Experiments are how discoveries are made!
So, it’s nice to see someone try it with a controlled procedure for valid results.
To me, the results show that even though diluted in water, the hormone is still contained in the pot and absorbed.
A useful video is the "why propogation fails" on here.
I have tried to propogate a rose in a potato with clone x after seeing a short. Only the potato grew. 😂
