Absolutely love the fogponics idea! What about using a separate chamber for the atomizer? And just feeding the five gallon bucket with mist? Do you think that you could grow an entire marijuana plant cycle with just the Mist? If so could you do a little experiment?? Mix up some nutrient water and check it with a TDS metre then check the pH. Run the atomizer and capture the Mist via a fan and a hole in the side of the container. I’m curious to see how much nutrient is carried through the mist and if the pH of the water changes at all?
Great video though, nice break down. But I was hoping to see exactly how to set each one up. That probably would require a video for each. I was left wondering…if I decided to try a hydroponic grow, which one should I try at first. I like the bottom feed idea, but confused 🤷♂️ on how the water even reaches the roots if the roots don’t reach the bottom?
In the DWC set up what setting do you put your air pump? LOW/MED/HIGH? Thanks

With DYI equipment and zero knowledge, many years ago, I started with flood and drain but the scheduling was difficult and the cheap pumps I had would sometimes not start when the timer turned on.
So, I turned the flood on permanently, but very shallow, (while I figured out what to do) and it became a deep-ish nutrient film system (1/2 inch deep, flowing in a pan with pots of hydroton sitting in it) that worked well, indoors, for years.
Now, doing outdoor hydro, I added lids to my nutrient film pans, the evaporation and algae was much more intense outdoors and so I finally invested the effort to make pans with nice lids, and moved to smaller net pots (suspended in the lids), then deepened the nutrient "film", and traded the gravity splash 5 gal bucket reservoir for a self contained DWC/Kratky.
Controlling the environment is very hard in the Mojave at 4000ft, but I’ve got a tiny, open top, windproof, green house, plus a small shed to roll my hydro carts into during the occasion freeze, and holy COW, the sun rocks! It’s December and I have an explosion of growth that has me scrambling to build more DWC setups.
I grew indoors for 6 years and, for me, battling the outdoor elements is totally worth the power of the sun! It also is consistent from top to bottom of the plants. I have never seen such growth!

I’ve used several of the methods for my garden and I had the best tomatoes and cucumbers and strawberries Ever. Having control over the nutrients and pruning in my dutch buckets had maters that were gigantic. I want to do another nft with the 3" pvc pipe I have on hand. Weird example of wicking. it’s usually executed from beneath the plants.
I don’t recall seeing a full grow with any substantial yield ever using the kratky method.
Aeroponics are awesome for cloning! I personally recommend this method for those of you who have a small/medium grow. I’ve seen many setups that have a 100% success rate.
And…I didn’t see what I and many others consider the best method for a full hydroponic grow in this video.

I’m doing an outdoor dwc in a 20 gal resevoir setup with a 2gal per hour recirculated drip through the hydroton. I water proofed everything and have it all set up, just waiting on the seeds. I can’t wait to see this set up compete against my plants in soil.

Definitely not new to Hydro at this point… Learned the beginner steps with Kratky (and beginner fails), alongside DWC with forced air. I’m not altogether sure the multi plant Active system would be that expensive to put together. By the time you buy a suitable air pump, 2 containers (one for res, one for plant), a water pump, hydroton, etc…. DWC is behind a sizeable paywall, admittedly it can be done extremely cheap, but the results will suffer from my experience and experimentation lol.
