We have hit our biggest milestone yet. We now have power running into our house and over to the pump house and we also have running water. Cue the waterworks!
Honey, I know this is an old video and I normally do not comment on older videos, but I TOTALLY understand the tears of joy! I have been living without running water for over 3 years. I had hoped to have it running before Christmas, but it didn’t happen. And then the cold weather came in. I am a 60+ year old woman on SS trying to get it all done myself. When I finally do get the water running in my house, my "waterworks" will probably also be running!

FYI I grew up with cistern soft water, but we also had city well water to drink. Well water has minerals that enhance the taste. Rain water is just water, no taste.

No fluoride or chlorine in the water is probably what you’re noticing. Definitely use high-fluoride toothpaste going forward, to help with your teeth, since it’s no longer in the water supply you’re using.
I realize I’m very late to comment on this, but maybe it’ll help someone in the future. Hold a plank of wood over the end of the pipe so it gives you a larger target to hit.

But no one ever says does the pressurized water ever go to the water heater? Is there a special way to put it there or is it is it just flow with the pressure of the water pump?

Rain water is better… I like well water. I hate living in the city when I grew up in the country.. city water has soooo many chemicals in it!

Installing the ground rod. Dig a hole with your post hole digger and pour 5 gal of water. Wait a day and push the rod down into the ground. Back fill the hole.

How offend does the pump come on? As I understand, the pump pressurizes the tank and then allows you to shower flush toilets and such until pressure drops and the pump comes back on. Just looking to understand how often the pump needs to run. Trying to understand pump size, tank location to estimate off grid power usage for pump. I’m probably overthinking this but just trying to understand
