D&G Tutorial Series: Cutting Clones 101
CUTTING CLONES – STEP BY STEP
– Cutting at a diagonal angle, clip 2 or 3 nodes down from the top of the stem. (No more than 3 clones from each plant.)
– Immediately place freshly cut clones into a cup of water.
– Keep your canopy as even as possible.
– Soak your starter cubes in your nutrient solution of choice.
– After they’ve soaked, take your cubes out of the bucket and shake them out. (Do not squeeze)
– Place the cubes in a tray, spaced out in rows of 4. We recommend 28 per tray.
– Using a nail, poke time holes right next to the center.
– Grab a clone from the cup of water, snip the bottom inch off of the stem at the same angle as you cut from the mother plant.
– If there is a fan leaf cut it off as well, but leaving the node.
– Using the blade of the scissors, gently rub the cell walls of the bottom of the stem.
– From there, run the leaves through your fingers and clip the top half of the leaves (for weight)
– Dip the stem into the Hormex powder, then place the clone into the tiny holes you made in the starter cube.
– After you have everything planted, place the dome over it, closing the vents.
– Set the tray away from direct light.
– Take your dome off everyday, wipe off any condensation.
– Make sure you water your clones the second they feel dry.

Hey jdog if you guys ever get the time you should check out the aerogarden 7 pod system. My parents got one for me as a gift a few years ago since at the time I was getting really into growing fruits and vegetables. They are really efficient on energy use since they have led grow lights on them. They’re also great for starting seeds and clones in. I’ve personally been trying to clone my tomatoes and peppers in them and I recently had luck with tomato clones. I still need to master pepper clones.

I like to put them straight into the soil of the pot im going to use thru to harvest to avoid repotting stress. Usually starts growing roots in a few days and top growing in a week
