When growing in coco coir there are some special methods of fertilizing that should be kept in-mind.
While some companies manufacture coco coir specific fertilizers growers need to keep a few key items in-mind…

Frequent Feeding with Coco Coir
Growers using coco coir will be doing frequent feedings, so having a system that allows for easy and consistent delivery of nutrients is highly recommended.

Do Not Neglect Basic Macro Nutrients
Plants must be fed the typical macro nutrients (N-P-K)
These can not be forgotten about to avoid the common nutrients deficiencies

Growing in Coco Coir… Got Cal-Mag?
If growing in coco coir you need to make sure you also have sufficient cal-mag fertilizer on hand.
Many companies offer a cal-mag product, but based on personally collected tissue test results Botanicar’s Cal-Mag plus gets my recommendation.

Iron Needed with Coco Coir?
Some growers suggest that iron deficiency can also occur with greater frequency with a coco coir substrate.
While this may be possible, Ca and Mg deficiencies are more common.
*Also Botanicar’s Cal-Mag Plus also has iron in it;-)

With Any Fertilizer…
When mixing any fertilizers they should be initially mixed in a clear jar to see if any unexpected reactions (precipitation) occurs.
Calcium based fertilizer seem to be more likely to react so if you are going to be mixing other fertilizers follow manufacture suggestions and also perform a test before you make an application to your plants to avoid potential negative impacts.
