Germany partially decriminalises cannabis | BBC News

Germany has partly decriminalised the use of marijuana.

Under the new rules, which came into force on 1 April, over 18s can possess up to 25g of cannabis in public, and adults can grow up to three plants per household.

But people will not be allowed to smoke cannabis within sight of schools, sports centres or in “pedestrian zones” between 7:00 and 20:00.

Supporters of the law-change say it will help kill the black market and improve quality control, while police unions are warning of real-world harm.

Legalise and regulate or continue having it in the hands of the black market and being controlled by criminals because like it or not people are gonna use it regardless and won’t let a silly thing like the law get in the way.

Legalisation should be an all over EU law for cannabis. Its a fkn joke you can drink alcohol how much you like and when you get hooked there the doctors say you are sick. Fkn joke rules regarding weed.

It is really nice that individuals elected by people are giving way to people, a peace of their freedom. Once people are free, not constricted, they will cease to crave what is forbidden…

  31. @------YeahOK------ on April 16, 2024 at 8:34 am

I have lost friends to alcohol, drink is on another level- why was cannabis ever illegal in the first place?

  32. @hugoboss5895 on April 16, 2024 at 8:34 am

Green crack. Horrible stuff. But it’s every where so what’s the point in keeping it illegal.

  33. @ashwilliams4959 on April 16, 2024 at 8:35 am

Bbc are such bad liars, even something like this they still have to throw a little lie in there.. partly legalised or is it just were backwards and theyve legalised it

  34. @shaunussy on April 16, 2024 at 8:35 am

To Germany I say well done!!. To the UK, I say, oh dear!! You are definitely going to have to play catch up!

  35. @lukasm09 on April 16, 2024 at 8:36 am

honestly for non-smokers there is totally no difference. I was worried a bit about the smell in cities but it didn’t get more than before.

  36. @Paul-he7ry on April 16, 2024 at 8:39 am

If they legalised it in the uk then think of the billions of pounds in taxes they could take….no brainer when everyone’s struggling

  37. @user-mw6ek4ig6g on April 16, 2024 at 8:40 am

Uk should follow so police can stop stealing weed

  38. @Austin59Tube on April 16, 2024 at 8:40 am

Mad how much the bbc want us to hate the idea of this, can feel their motive

  39. @paso6234 on April 16, 2024 at 8:41 am

crazy, how bbc news gets it right and speaks of cannabis being partially legalized, versus german media that always speaks of cannabis being fully legalized here in germany. that makes a huge difference.

  40. @dertobi5851 on April 16, 2024 at 8:43 am

Better come to germany then to the netherlands. We have also weed. We have better beer. And we have autobahnen where u can drive with your car 250mph free of charge. And its allowed to date girls in an age of 14 and older. Prostitution is also legal . Everything what a man needs for holidays. And we have the better soccer clubs then the netherlands. But not as good as in the uk.the premier League is the new champions League.
