How LONG Should Vegetative Phase Be? – Indoors & Outdoors + Grow Journal Mini-Update

How LONG Should Vegetative Phase Be? – Indoors & Outdoors + Grow Journal Mini-Update

A discussion about the length that Vegetative Phase should be – indoor or outdoors – obviously, more veg time = bigger plants & there’s variance per strain, but I’ll give you some general guidelines + A grow journal mini-update, cause I’m sure many of you wondered what became of them.

Thanks Lex for sharing your knowledge here. I am such a newby grower. So I dove deep and have 3 plants up and growing hard(Sour Diesel, Northern Lights and a Zkittles). My Sour D. is a week ahead but the difference in all 3 growths amaze me. I only have 1 – 4×4 tent. Do you think I can go to flowering stage after I see these gat all past/ around this 45+ day period? My Zkittles is the runt out of all three so I am trying to make sure she has some days to mature enough. Your channel is my go to and I appreciate you for it!

Hi and thanks. I’ve been a sporadic outdoor grower much of the last 20yrs. I’m trying my first indoor grow and somehow have now gotten thrips at about 1.5 months so I may need to vacate the grow room and plan/clean/etc. I’m in a mild winter california zone. Have you ever heard of just moving them outside in such a case, and letting them just end veg and do a bud cycle before the normal season begins- perhaps with seethrough bags around them during the colder year part? Thx, good channel

Thank you man I am close to flowering pure beginner here, I enjoy your videos. My question is on lighting I have a sayhon 4000. Growing 3 plants just about ready for flowering I am not sure as to what to do with the lighting. Whether to raise it turn them and on and on… I am sure the answer is simple I just don’t have it. Thank you any help will do I have seen most of your videos but with lights I have not found the answer yet,

Can you damage your plants if you keep the vegetated phase longer like about 4-5 months?

  10. @drgreenthumb8889 on June 2, 2024 at 11:10 am

What strain is this they pumping real quick

  11. @tonypearson994 on June 2, 2024 at 11:10 am

I could use some help. I thought I purchased Auto-flower seeds. They have been on an 18/6 light schedule for 12 weeks, well past the intended vegetative phase. The buds weren’t developing so I contacted the source only to find out they are photoperiod seeds. The buds are not forming at all. Can this be rectified? Or, should I start over?

  12. @JairoV310 on June 2, 2024 at 11:12 am

As for myself I used to be the same way how long is veg? When should I flower? So on and so on… so I just made it easier for my self I just go on by looks once I see my canopy all filled in nice and healthy then I flip then i start counting on from there lol much easier

  13. @checkforfleas9452 on June 2, 2024 at 11:13 am

Wait a minute. How are u going to talk about what we should do when u literally tried to use plain water on plain soil. It has no food in it.

  14. @paisleysharp539 on June 2, 2024 at 11:13 am

I germinated my plant in early April to mid April I use organic soil and fertilizer my plant has out grown the original space I had and has been moved to a bigger space won’t be much longer until that space is too small I feel that it’s ready for flowering (first time grower) I’ve switched the lights from 18/6 to 12/12 the temperature doesn’t drop when lights are off but my plant isn’t showing any signs of preflowering or even a gender it’s like day 80 since being germinated am I doing something wrong

  22. @roberttillis4607 on June 2, 2024 at 11:22 am

How can I show you my plant and im doing wrong need some help please

  23. @GodAboveAll777 on June 2, 2024 at 11:23 am

My rule of thumb is I’ll usually switch when I have about 40-50% growth room left as that’s the extra size it will put on during flower. Minus 12-15 inches as well for light spacing from the tip of the highest cola.

  24. @sonicrising6614 on June 2, 2024 at 11:23 am

I would say veg stage starts at actual germination and when the cotyledons appear. There is no vegetation until photosynthesis occurs and that can’t happen without the cotyledons.

I’m curious can vegging plants get pregnant? Anyone? I guess I’m going to find out loll ✌️

  28. @jeffgerou3247 on June 2, 2024 at 11:33 am

Will the plant automatically go into the budding stage on its own, mines in a greenhouse I built with the sides about 6ft n the center about 8.5ft, or is that when we increase the bloom ingredients let’s say 60 days of veg, I’m in N. Mi hotter than hell here right now n they’re about 18-24" tall in 5.5 weeks of me getting them as clones about 5-6" tall. Any correct answer will help, 1st time grower.

  29. @nkxzombietrix1897 on June 2, 2024 at 11:33 am

I’m on day 60 but I’ve top topped 3 times. She’s very short and spread out. I plan on vegging 80-90 days.

How long should I veg in a 2×2

  32. @denemedeneme8681 on June 2, 2024 at 11:34 am

If you pot are 11litr pots, what would be the moment that you turn to 12/12 how long sould de plant be that you think is the rihgt time?

  33. @paulbaker4248 on June 2, 2024 at 11:36 am

I know you get alot of people correcting you on things ? Sorry. But I need to set this straight. Seedling stage is 20 day from the time your seed pops out of the soil. Day 21 starts veg ! Prob 4th or 5th set of leafs , then I go 5 weeks of veg. Flower starts when you feel there ready. ( photo plants ) then lights go to 12 on 12 off. Depending on the strain. 10 to 12 weeks of flower. This is the time frame

  34. @RadDadMoody on June 2, 2024 at 11:38 am

  40. @dankisreal6432 on June 2, 2024 at 11:47 am

Why were you growing in Promix HP without any nutes? That’s my only question.

  41. @yunustegally8196 on June 2, 2024 at 11:49 am

Hey Lex, could you please help me out identify rusty spots on my plants? I thought it was nute burn, but apprently people say it’s calmag deficiency. What should I look for when I apply the Calmag, which I did 2 days ago

  42. @jamesday3389 on June 2, 2024 at 11:49 am

Ive had this question on my mind for awhile. Im a small closet grower and a newbie.

LEX I NEED HELP my power went out last night so my plants got 12 hours of dark for first time they are still in VEG stage and not ready for flower I’m afraid if I switch back they will be hermies not sure what to do can I just put the timer back to 16 hours or let them flower help a brother out lol ASAP

  45. @LexBlazer on June 2, 2024 at 11:54 am

lol much like my episode titled "how much can one plant yield", some people will be unhappy with the imprecise answer provided here…but that’s the nature of growing plants with countless strains and ways to grow them…hopefully the information in this video gives you guys good ballpark estimates for both indoors & outdoors though. I have grown indoors countless times, and 90% of my strains had to wrap up vegetative between days 40 & 50; those cycles also ALL had nutes ….with nutes I could do sub-40 days with a basic CO2 setup and still end up with plants that max out a normal ceiling height. For more details on what I’m doing in this particular tent, you’ll have to tune in for the grow journal updates! Please subscribe!

I had a break in my timer ⏲️. My plants started going backwards into what was probably veg state after all that progress.
