I’m smoking 36 percent garlic cookies right now lol
In the 90s the great weed was less prevalent than the brick weed, but when you could find it , the quality was much higher than today’s buds. The 80s was about the same but less quality stuff was available. Great weed was around even in the 6os and 70s though mainly imported from abroad. Very few growers knew what they were doing yet. But there were some lucky ones even then.

I stay in Mississippi and let me say they grow that shit too lol..
But it’s sad because it’s so many sick people here and it’s a shame because they know the medical benefits but it’s still not legalized..

That’s because America always grew the shittiest weed in the world… Good Thia Stick and Jamaican in the 80’s was amazing… Canada’s hydroponics made it blow off the charts…

  8. @raymond8875 on February 4, 2024 at 6:36 am

Not for me, from California. #TOMARS

  9. @VoskiArdziv on February 4, 2024 at 6:36 am

I beg to differ. When I started smoking weed in 1980 when I was 16, all I got was Mexican brick weed and Columbian gold, and once I had Thai Stick and once some California Orange and once some Humboldt skunkweed. The Columbian Gold sent me into kingdom come with only one or two hits. and the Mexican brick with 2 or 3. These days the best I can get is Banana, OG Kush, Northern Lights, Girl Scout Cookies. THC Bomb, and I will try Orange Punch in acouple days for the first time. I can do 12 hits each of Girl Scout Cookies and OG Kush and Northern Lights and still not get any better than a slight buzz. Banana is the most powerful now which takes me one hit to get a decent high, but nothing compared the total magical mystery tour trip to outer space that Columbian Gold and Thai Stick gave me back in the early 1980’s. Today’s weed is a huge dissapointment. How I wish to be in the early ’80’s.

    You just need good pH

  11. @phaganators on February 4, 2024 at 6:37 am

Those number are from imported dirt weed. What’s funny about it is about the time of the rise in thc is around the same time people moved away from the imported dirt green and started and we started seeing indoor high grade become readily available. It is also about the same time the prices for the high grade dropped significantly.😎

  12. @howey935 on February 4, 2024 at 6:39 am

The strongest strain ever recorded in the U.K. was 29.9% at least that’s the strongest the police have caught a grower with, that grower was from Hampshire

Weed wasn’t as low as 4% THC that’s basically hemp and nowadays it’s like 20 or 30 but not twelve twelve is old weed not modern weed

    Really like your topics

  16. @rhodes6840 on February 4, 2024 at 6:42 am

Yeah govt numbers are not worth the paper you printed them on. Police numbers doubly so.
Given they busted primarily poor and young what kind of pot do you think they had?
The Science is the only reason its gotten better and THC testing is getting cheap.

  17. @truth-dickhead3306 on February 4, 2024 at 6:42 am

in the old days THC content was measured by weight, nowadays is measured by volume. that way,the Enemy can skew the statistics to make it look like today’s weed is 4 times as strong. And technically it’s still valid. for example a sample of blueberry that tested out to 24%, was actually 5.5% by weight.

  18. @TheBlindbowman on February 4, 2024 at 6:42 am

this guy is full shit …your a 10 year know it all ….I been smoking from 1971 till now and you don’t know what your talking about ..your just another greedy prick trying to get my hummy likes .. gFO ! lex stupid ass your a kid … a dumb kid …did you jump the wall .. what a moron

  19. @renzokata on February 4, 2024 at 6:42 am

My friend at work gave me some home grown outdoor high grade. He did a hidden guerilla grow. It wasn’t optimal compared to dense nugs of stuff like Master Kush or Granddaddy Purple or even better stuff like Gorilla Glue, but it wasn’t bad at all. He was explaining to me how much better it would have been had he done it under HPS lights or something.

  20. @onlyincanadaapity1883 on February 4, 2024 at 6:42 am

No im 62 been smoking since i was 13. I challange anyone who can match old authentic Jamaican tie stick. How i wish to find anything close to it.🇨🇦😎

  21. @torrielandsman4625 on February 4, 2024 at 6:43 am

2020 Crop King has a genetic that tested in a lab in California to 40% THC.
I smoked some Hawaiian in the 70’s that saw as good or better than anything around today, Pot hasn’t gotten better! people have just learned how to grow and choose better genetics, We don’t propagate mexican gag weed anymore so we do have stronger strains, but you go and grow yourself some Mexican pot and see what you get for THC > 5% every time so don’t waste your time go get yourself some decent genetics and have yourself a good grow!
    Peace!

    thumbs up… good topic

  26. @jasonjones9590 on February 4, 2024 at 6:47 am

I think a lot of those percentages came from confiscated weed coming over the border. The best weed I smoked was in the eighties growing up in northern California. This was outdoor pot from the Humbolt county area. I can remember smoking in the morning and being high all day.

  27. @l4cefromdavalley556 on February 4, 2024 at 6:48 am

And also weed gets up to be 36%

  28. @BiG420ToMaTo420BuDs on February 4, 2024 at 6:48 am

That’s just an average also and most of it was seized so it was mostly black market schwag and good outdoors from Cali and Mexico

  29. @mxprogression on February 4, 2024 at 6:49 am

    It’s now around 25-30% 🤪👍🏼

  33. @mikebtrfld1705 on February 4, 2024 at 6:53 am

My first toke was in 1966. Been a daily smoker since. Back in the 60’s it was easy to smuggle weed in from all over the world. Seedless weed didn’t take over until much later. I’ve smoked a lot of bunk weed sold at the legal pot stores. Now we’re finding that labs are giving fake numbers. Give me a Thai stick, some Maui Wowee, Colombian gold, Vietnam black.

  34. @davidtaylor8406 on February 4, 2024 at 6:54 am

What happened was seed/strain breeders going on forums like Overgrow and teaching people how to grow so they didn’t have to buy cheap ass ditch weed.

  35. @MrKartman35 on February 4, 2024 at 6:54 am

Those figures show the AVERAGE strength of weed seized by police….The increase in the average strength is explained by the fact that the indoor growers that took over the market were now producing better selected strains under more controlled conditions. The strong strains properly grown back then were just as strong, only not as commonplace in the market which was dominated by mexican and central american brickweed.

  36. @francescoG145 on February 4, 2024 at 6:59 am

I smoke nothing but the finest shit of this day. Bruce Banner, GG4, purple chemdog…etc But nothing got me higher nor smelled as funky and skuny with joints getting clogged up with resin like some of the first batches of hydro grown skunks and chemdogs of the 90’s. There was something real special about those first batches of hydro grown primo shit. Could be that it contrasts with the shitty bricked mexican weed weed normally have to smoke and I could be greatly desensitized now. But I could swear that weed if not any stronger it was a hell of a bit louder like you have to triple bag it and hide it in the basement.

  39. @jeremyrobbins9064 on February 4, 2024 at 7:04 am

My best friends father was well connected and we smoked pot that was of equal quality of premium bud today. People sell some "hydro" today that is not as good as the stuff I smoked then. This study is flawed under the basis that it is an average and when you factor in the large amounts of junk weed from mexico "regs" that was circulating in that day the numbers drop allot. The fact remains that you can not find that stuff anymore and that is why the illegal market stopped dealing in quarter bags for 20-25$ once people where willing to pay 40$ a 1/4, then 60$ a 1/4. All the way to 100$ a 1/4. Just because you did not get the 20$ a gram bud in the old days does not mean it was not around. Just means you where not finding it readily available in the sea of brown mexican junk.

In the late 90’s we where getting buds that blow away most of the high quality stuff you find now in Colorado. Honestly I feel most of that bud is just mid grade.

  40. @BiG420ToMaTo420BuDs on February 4, 2024 at 7:06 am

In 20-40 years nobody will smoke flower anymore all you will be able to get is concentrates and lab engineered thc crystalline white rocks of pure thc

  41. @satinbarbi on February 4, 2024 at 7:07 am

A bowl of Colombian Gold back in 1978 got me just as high as today’s super weed and it did it for $30 an ounce.

  42. @gerritfridericksohn4627 on February 4, 2024 at 7:12 am

I’ve smoked since the sixties. In 1970 the term "heart racing sativa" was known and used. So weed must have had a certain potency. We had guys coming back from serving in Thailand with the U.S. Air Force and they brought back seeds. My friends and I came from farming backgrounds. We were cloning in the early seventies and growing organically. We never bought weed. We got higher than a kite. Just sayin’. I have bought weed from the dispensary. It’s a crap shoot. What I see from the dispensary is an inordinate amount of poorly cured weed. Keep on tokin.

  43. @happyhomelesshomesteaders158 on February 4, 2024 at 7:12 am

Thanks Lex, one thing I think helped contribute to the lower percenages is the harvesting of cream as Jamaicans make figervhas and then harvest and sell their bud and other ways of extracting part of the thc from the sources, especially commercialy grown imports 🌹

  44. @SpeedyBiker91 on February 4, 2024 at 7:14 am

I think it’s ironic that prohibition actually ended up creating stronger and more potent cannabis. I dont think stronger cannabis is nessassery a bad thing. You don’t have to smoke as much of it so you don’t inhale as much smoke and tar. Also with cannabis being legal in Canada now I’m noticing an interest in the lower thc and higher cdb varieties as well.

  45. @djbdone on February 4, 2024 at 7:16 am

1985 from 2000 was imported dirt weed. 😂 RIP Mexican Bricks

That’s because all the commercial brick pot was around then in the earlier part!! And then good indoor started getting grown then!! Late 90s and BC pot was available in lbs!! It’s the change from cheap brick swag to cronic/flame they called it!!! I remember it all!!

  48. @francescoG145 on February 4, 2024 at 7:19 am
