How to Setup a RDWC System- PA Hydroponics Stirponic 4 Bucket System Installation Troubleshooting

An RDWC stands for recirculating deep water culture system which is basically a bunch of hydroponic DWC’s connected and maintained through a main resevoir of water. The benefit of a RDWC is that you no longer have to adjust the nutrient and pH levels for each individual bucket and now you can just access a single reservoir to make adjustments. The downside is that you may want to have different nutrient levels for each plant. In this video, we setup a RDWC from PA hydroponics and I talk you through every step needed to assemble and install this system. This is a 4 bucket soilless system that grow plants in hydroton suspended above the water using net pots. The water is aerated using an airpump which give plants oxygen rich water filled with nutrients that are added. This system is used in my hydro vs soil grow series which will be available in a couple of weeks.

Definitely a different way of growing bro. Been growing in RDWC for a while now and I can say you did a really good run thru of everything!! I started off exactly like this too but as time goes by it does get easier! It is expensive to start off like you said. I would keep buckets ready with RO water for when I need them and getting a separate reservoir was a game changer!! I have a a blue lab pH controller in the reservoir connected to my 18 bucket system I use for flowering. I use to spend most of my time checking pH on all plants every other day, but with that controller, I now use the time to Scrog and train the plants! Anyways, awesome video!! 🤘🏼
a little silicone goes a long way to avoid leaks. the clamps alone never work.
Tip for bulkhead fittings: Always put the gaskets/washers on the non-nut side. The side with the flange. 😉
damn you took a lot of effort to save a 20$ pump
Wicked set up
Hello growmie- do you have issues with roots clogging the 1inch lines?
I bought the same set up from Gary and have produced some monsters. Gary is just a likeable guy and I want to support him and his businesses. grow on brother! EDIT: actually watching more into the video it’s not the same set up as mine but close.
What is the benefit of tying them all together vs having separate dwc buckets.
Love the idea of plant stands and hose clamps, I’ll use that after this grow.
This is expert level 4sho
how long can the air pump hoses be? like if i want to put the pump in an entire other room?
His fallponics setup is killer. It’s worth mentioning that polyurethane hose works best if you heat with a torch till it sweats then put it on the bulkhead to cool. It will seal better. Won’t even need clamps. And it won’t leak. Gary builds some nice stuff, but 1" lines are scary bro.. I’m nervous for you lol
Use a little wd40 spray the sticker and let it soak for a sec will come off really easy then wipe with some alcohol works wonders
So when you first set up the RDWC system, do you fill all of the buckets as well as the reservoir or just the buckets?
Aloha from Hawaii. If you are thinking about trying rdwc in Hawaii you will need a chiller. Our temperature here is low to mid 80s on the average. I run a iceprobe chiller and a 16 gallon aquarium chiller. Keeps water temp about 69 to 72 degrees. Any warmer you may start to have root problems. Just my personal experience, hope it helps
Good tutorial.

Such a great walk through! Thanks for spending the time to go through with such detail! Will for sure be following the progress of this grow🙌
