Reuse soil by mixing half old and half new. I do it every time and no diff. Actually can cause probs using all new

People spend tons of money on CO2 but you can easily make your own CO2 bags by mixing baking soda and citric acid in 1:1 ratio. I’ve seen many people using this method on a weed forum from my region, and they all have good success. People are not very rich here, so they use DIY hacks and it works. I don’t know the exact measurements, but basically find any bag the size of a DVD case for example, just mix equal parts of baking soda and citric acid, punch few tiny holes and hang it above the plants. 1 bag per plant. I don’t use it because i spend a lot of time near my tent so they get CO2 from me.
Also, i think pH+ and pH- products are also a waste of money. You can also use baking soda to raise pH, and citric acid to lower pH, and it’s safe for plants. Biobizz organic pH- also uses citric acid but it’s in a liquid bottle mixed with water and it costs more.
And in my experience, pH drops is perfectly fine and fairly accurate for testing, and they’re cheap. Not the paper ones, i’m talking about the liquid that you put few drops and it shows you the color. So simple to use. Better than buying a cheap 5€ digital tester, or buying an expensive 100€ tester, because they need calibration and they can malfunction, you need storage solutions etc.. with the pH drops you don’t need any of that. Also, in organic grow you don’t have to be fully accurate, you can ballpark the pH around 7 and your soil bacteria should lower the pH naturally.

a few other things…if you want to propagate cuttings you don’t have to spend $$$ on a fancy cloning device and even solution. Just use SHARP tools and you can root them in a cup of water! It might take a few extra days but it works. Also, don’t reuse your soil if you’ve had pest issues like root aphids or root mealybugs unless you bake it between grows.

On the lights. What is your opinion on the Kind LED X750 if you’ve heard of that one?
I have been sterilizing my soil for years by laying it on a piece of old metal roofing and hitting it with a flame thrower from the box store for melting ice. Turns all the old spider roots into carbon and thats a good thing for the soil. I have used this for all my vegetable garden start ups too.

Just use PH test indicator liquid. The bottle will last you forever, and neck to neck with an expensive PH pen. I literally spent an entire grow cycle comparing them. Liquid all the way. You have to continually calibrate the best pen tester.

During bloom, you’ll slash the time it takes to produce fruit and flowers. It’s most important to add CO2 in the first 2 – 3 weeks of bloom, when flower production starts. During flowering, the extra CO2 can help maximise high intensity lights. Remember – for photosynthesis plants need light + water + CO2.

Hey Highigan, love the content on how to save money for biginners…so funny you mentioned those amazon ph pens!!! I bought one (this is my first indoor grow by the way). I suffered some ph burn as a result, until I figured out it was that stupid yellow PH pen, throwing my numbers off, plant is bouncing back, but I feel her over all growth will be stunted because of this nutrient burn…Amazon should be sued for those totally unreliable pens….On one small note, my plant leaves are sooooo small….compared to what I see on TV and YOUTube. Is it the phosphorus that needs adjusting or is it a lack of nitrogen causing small leaves. It is a amnesia haze feminized auto flower…..love those smiles i see from you both on your vids…
buy advanced nutrients ph perfect three part. follow directions on bottle. plant in coco. water with full food every single time u water and go till 20% runoff. can’t mess it up. it’s so simple. it don’t need to be hard. also finding the right cultivar to grow is big. but it can be really simple. it can be very complicated also. but start8jg off keep it simple and u will be fine.

what do yall use to replenish the soil or do yall just direct depend on feeding for neuts?. i personally like to have my soil feed my seedlings at early stages. kinda just let them do their own thing. ive experienced giving nuets in early stages mine dont like em. ive been using ocean forest for years and have always let the soil feed for atleast a month or until they show signs. im mainly self taught so idk if im way out in left field on this one but ive had pretty good results with my techniques but always like trying new things n learning more.

Ph pens are either too expensive or completely useless.. gimme a good 15$ bottle of Ph liquid that lasts 2 years and works perfect every time.
