Optimal Nutrient PPM for Cannabis Plants

Optimal Nutrient PPM for Cannabis Plants

Grow Talk – The Dude, Scotty and Guru discuss electrical conductivity and parts per million numbers when measuring minerals in a solution. Answering a Grow Talk question posted by PurpTerp-PhenoGod who wants to know what the optimal ppm where cannabis plants thrive at with different amounts of macro and micro nutrients each week. “I’m looking for a base amount that someone knows works very well.”

So if your using an super soil like fox farm or main etc do you add any micro as the grow goes like for example 4-6 weeks in and use a bloom once flower starts. Thanks for any info kinda new to the project

  9. 406.dabber on June 17, 2022 at 9:46 am

I keep mine like 1500ppm dwc during flower

  10. Red Dead Dylan on June 17, 2022 at 9:46 am

Dudes, my last grow I got great results Gaia green top feed. Straight water from the tap oxygenated. No problems never measured ppms. Just my water it was 200. Ppm my results were 🔥. Not sure how high Gaia green brings up the ppms but my plants loved just tap water oxygenated.

Ugh not sure these guys understand much . If we talk about Total PPM in direction how much plants can handle i would say you will not see any issues with 4 EC or 2000 ppm , but you cant talk about TOTAL PPM and optimum grow those PPM’s . For example you can have reading of 1000 ppm from which 500 are coming from P which is not really useful and is cheap .
In agriculture or horticulture you talk about ppm of N , and for optimal growth is suggested constant feeding of 150ppm up ro 200ppm of N , which in balanced nutrition formula will give you total of 2 to 2.4 EC .

Help…. @thedudegrows how do I get my hands on some Recharge in Canada? Thanks for all you guys do.

Ok guys, I must be stupid because I can’t figure this out!! Yes I’m New to growing and I’m on my 5th grow… I’ve never used a TDS meter and only use my ph meter but some guru asked me all sorts of questions and I don’t want to"get that deep" since I grow only 2-4 plants at a time.
So I flushed my Chocoloupe because her small leaves are Clawing but no signs of nute or wind burn. I don’t have a tent and am using a spare room. So I used the TDS meter on the run off and got this Reading: EC at the top
3814 and the lower numbers are 190.
The PPM is 662 with 1907 in the upper side, if that makes sense?
What should it be? I’m growing in organic soil and use Bergman’s Fertilizers.
Another question: How soon do I need to add the Nutes After a flush?
    Thanks for any help 🆘

  17. Jay James on June 17, 2022 at 9:56 am

IM SURE YOU GET QUESTIONS ALL DAY I JUST THREW SOME CLONES FROM A DIXIE TO 5 GALLON POTS IN ORGANIC KELLOGS SOIL FROM HD I ISED THE CHEAPER SHIT BECAUSE I HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH FOXFARM THE ISSUE IS MY PH IS 7.5 TO 8.3 I FLUSHED EACH POT WITH WATER PH TO 6.2 I RAN 15 GALLONS THROUGH EACH 5 GALLON POT PH IS STILL 8.0 PLANTS ARE NOT DOING WELL SO I ORDERED RECHARGE BUT I THINKNIM SCREWED MINUS THE RECHARGE WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THE PH DOWN? THIS IS NOT MY 1ST RODEO BUT I WILL BE GOING BACK TO COCO AND PERLITE I FEED COMPOST TEA ONLY .

  18. elliott debell on June 17, 2022 at 9:57 am

Thank you guru for using EC, I f@@cking hate PPM as no one says what scale they use!

  19. Diamond Sky on June 17, 2022 at 9:59 am

This is the first time I’ve had this happen and I’ll take it as a good sign. I decided to dial in my vpd after feeding my plants last night 760ppm of nftg. I did a slurry tonight on one of my future #1s that looked unhappy and her ppm was 360. Her soil is still wet so she smashed her food. I’m not sure how to correct this without overwatering her

Love the show, but are you guys talking 500 or 700 scale? Thanks.

  24. Sean Steele on June 17, 2022 at 10:02 am

So if you have ridiculously high PPM can you just dilute with fresh water?

  25. TWERPSTER'S on June 17, 2022 at 10:05 am

How can you Increase the PPM???

  26. Thomas"cannabisconnoiesaur" Cooper on June 17, 2022 at 10:05 am

    Please hook me upppp

  27. Five Star on June 17, 2022 at 10:05 am

I like to hit the ladies with a stressful 1400ppm dose of straight K around day 46 with 65 day strains. This gives an obvious flavor & aroma boost and also works on tomatoes to increase lycopene. For regular feedings I hit them with 250 to 1100 ppm depending on plant volume keeping osmotic pressure in mind.

  28. Morgan Flaherty on June 17, 2022 at 10:06 am

Thank you someone finally answered my question

  29. Lars Vad on June 17, 2022 at 10:08 am

in my last grow, the plants got fertilizer / soil improvers of around 1900 to 2000 ppm and got super harvest out of it

  30. James Sparham on June 17, 2022 at 10:08 am

    Early veg = 600-800ppm
    Aggressive veg = 800-1000 ppm
Transition period to flowering = 1000 ppm
    Flowering = 1000-1200ppm
Last 2 feeds of flowering =1200+ ppm
Last 10 days of flowering = flush with PH balanced water.

These are just guidelines that has worked for myself from the past to present. Some strains I have grown is lower some are higher. These are the baseline measurements and I adjust to the pants needs, size and stage of growth. The plants will talk you….just listen.

  32. Pseudo Nymph on June 17, 2022 at 10:08 am

What about conductivity there hash master flex I am going to find out since y’all don’t trip on that as much as the tetrahydrocannabinol am I right? Sorry I smoke occasionally myself one of the few things in life that less is more applies take care.

  33. Gutta Snipe on June 17, 2022 at 10:09 am

You’d be a fucking Hero if you don’t measure your PPMs and just guess a spoonful per gallon, but even better just guess everything.

  34. El Dankerino on June 17, 2022 at 10:10 am

Imagine looking at Von Liebig’s law of Minimum and a Mulders Chart instead of buying into this cannabis marketing bullshit

  35. Kat Joy on June 17, 2022 at 10:11 am

This video was exactly what I have been looking for…thanks. I have a brew of “tea” going with organic goodies in it but I also (shouldn’t have) added some liquid non organic fertilizer I used last year but no longer use as I am experimenting with organic. I didn’t want to take a chance at burning or killing my plants…the ppm was 800. Thanks again.

  36. Ask MiName on June 17, 2022 at 10:12 am

    Isn’t 800ppm = 1.6 EC?

  37. Thomas"cannabisconnoiesaur" Cooper on June 17, 2022 at 10:14 am

    Just blaze

  38. Justin Rodriguez on June 17, 2022 at 10:14 am

how do you fix high ppm ? Im in coco and did run off test in was 2700-3000

  39. Troy Macleod on June 17, 2022 at 10:15 am

Here’s a question ?! I’m new to dwc and was hitting it out of the park until I made a simple mistake and my ph was too low it flipped my autoflower but I didn’t notice it had a problem for about a week little less but it got me to wondering if it stunted in flower would this count as time flowering obviously it won’t matter it’s when the terps look done but does it stop it from finishing if it’s Stunted ?! Just about to become a Memeber and get some recharge I appreciate the help

  40. GROW SHACK on June 17, 2022 at 10:16 am

    800ppm.. next

    Cheers💚

  42. Jason P on June 17, 2022 at 10:19 am

My ec is 2.6 or 1800 ppm

  43. Andriy Korobov on June 17, 2022 at 10:20 am

i have not been able to find an answer to this question. PPM meters are 0.5 or 0.7 settings, but GH and most other the Dutch master that I’ve found do no specify what setting to use. I was told 0.5 and Dutch are also 0.5 but you said 0.7 so what should i use.

  44. Lonely Soldier Designs on June 17, 2022 at 10:21 am

Great advice but what you talking… 500 or 700 ppm scale.
Best stick with EC then we are all on the same page, 1.2 – 1.3 in veg. 1.3 – 1.6 in flower depending on your set up, strain, and brand of nutes.

  45. Grow Bro on June 17, 2022 at 10:23 am

Wtf you guys talking about? 800 ppm? that’s for my clones..
    Early veg 1200
    Late veg 1800
    Early flower 2200ppn
Late flower I’m at 3000 ppm
not even getting tip burn. And that’s 700 ppm scale.

Also really newbie to be talking ppm without even mentioning if your using 500 scale or 700 scale. Thats why these dudes talk instead of show you their garden. Come on over to my channel and see for yourself. 800 ppm 😭😭😭😭 bruh

  46. Sherrie Smoyer on June 17, 2022 at 10:24 am

Doing my best to learn the ropes and grow the best plant I can. How long after a feed should I check ppm’s?

  47. One Lung on June 17, 2022 at 10:28 am

Hey any way to get the DGC theme song as a ring tone?

  48. SteveO420 on June 17, 2022 at 10:29 am

go ec. thats universal. they say ‘ppm’ and thats US and thats a 500 scale. they are talking abour TDS and NOT PPM. thats on a 700 scale. so 1.0 ec = 500ppm = 700 tds. don’t confuse them they are not the same. they are talking tds in the vid. surprised the guru guy didn’t straighten that out. use a 1.2 ec.

  49. Toni warrson on June 17, 2022 at 10:32 am

im new grower i did not know ph ,EC and ppm i started make my own soil from the start and it was not legal and easy to get the info i try and failed more than my gains but a wrote it all down and so it was all gains from what i learn from my failures i use pro mix bx= as my base than i shift cow manure and sheep manure compost with my worm castings and i have tout of petemose that i fill with tree leaves and i and insect frass and 2 cups of shredded newspaper 2 hepping tablespoons of eggshells good luck and thank you

I like to doctor up my soul with good microbes and only water for first month then always feed half amount . Love all the rainbow 🌈 stuff .. that’s what I add to soil that brand with good organic nut line Feed half what it says always . I always get top of the line top shelf bud.
