Organic Vs Synthetic Nutrients: Which is Best for you?

Organic Vs Synthetic Nutrients: Which is Best for you?

Is organic or synthetic fertilizer best for your plants?

The simple answer to this question is yes, but is it best for you?

That is a very different question, but equally as important.

So, let’s have a look at why organic fertilizer is best for growing plants.

First, it is all natural and is therefore good for all the microbes in your soil.

As you continually enrich your soil, so its life is extended.

It also improves soil structure, with less nutrient run off and therefore less nutrient waste.

It gives your buds more flavour and the cannabis a stronger aroma through increased
terpene levels.

You’re less likely to burn your plants through overfeeding.

However, there is also that word ‘convenience’ which is a very seductive word for many of
us, and synthetic fertilizer is convenient as it comes ready prepared and is easy to use.
It usually works out cheaper too.

The greatest advantage of synthetic nutrients is they are quickly absorbed by plants, so can
provide an instant remedy to any chemical or nutrient shortfall.

That is the biggest drawback of organic fertilizer, and that is that the plant is slow to absorb
the nutrients in it.

Synthetic nutrients also give you greater control over dosing, but the drawback is that you
need to feed your plants more often with synthetic nutrients because of run off.

The other drawback with synthetic nutrients is that it is easy to overfeed your
plants, and that is as disastrous as underfeeding them.

Finally, apart from the fact that synthetic fertilizer is bad for microbes, which healthy plants
benefit from, it also results in a decrease in the fertility of the soil you are using, which is not
good news.

So, maybe you can see why we prefer organic fertilizer, but why we also acknowledge that
there is a place for synthetic fertilizer as well.

Let us know which you prefer and why In the comment section below.

When growing large numbers outside it may be wise to test your soil and add specific synthetic nutrients. Because your plants can never take up everything so after years you can get fosfor toxicity’s in your soil and so on.. bad for the invirement. That is bruce bugbey his stance anyway

I use both. I run a synthetic through a base of peat and compost. I also make a tea to add microbes to my soil. All of this means less nutes for better results.

I only run synthesis in DWC.

100% organic. Smaller but more potent buds. I tried synthetic & burned some plants.

Honestly after doing so much research over the years and through my own personal experience in my no till organic garden. I say do both. Just makesure to have a designated area for your organic fertilized soil and synthetic fertilized soil. Using raised garden beds and fabric pots can help separate the two.

i was a successful organic grower for yrs but switched back to synthetics and couldn’t be happier. However if you recycle your soil organics is definitely preferred

    Synthetic for larger yields 😉

I’ve done hydro, organic and synthetic.

I like the flavor of organic. But each method has its pros and cons.

As long as it get me high & taste good 👍 😋 im all for what ever my opinion hydro seems to be more potent & taste good 👍 😋 😉 😜 is more expensive quality 👌 over quantity….

This seems bias. Just because it’s not "organic" that doesn’t make it some gmo chemical like mondo burger 🤦🏿🤦🏼🤦🏽🤦🏾 (90’s babies will get the reference). I use synganics (synthetic nutrients and organic additives) and my plants get all the same 17 essential minerals the plants need to live as organic growers do just in a different form. I also use microbes and mycos and my root zones are Thriving 🤷🏽🤷🏿🤷🤷🏻

Good info, I prefer the organic mix, even though you tent to get less of a yield, but the taste and quality are better, in my opinion….

Compost and only add P in flower. High heat light.

    Microorganisms, minerals, organic material

  20. Meat Chamber Music on January 16, 2023 at 3:16 pm

Both. Some strains better in one or the other. Ask the breeders if their strain was bred done within organic, bottled, soil or hydro style nutrient grow to express profiles breeder intended.

    Organic : )

  22. Emil Karolak on January 16, 2023 at 3:22 pm

Synthetic fertilizer is only bad for microbes if dose is too big. In normal circumstances it is IDENTICAL to organic.

Ok let’s use the work Synganic
