The 85th Texas Legislative session is in full swing, and lawmakers are proposing bills that would alter Texas’ strict medical marijuana laws and lower punishments for possession of small amounts of marijuana.

What about help for people living in chronic pain? Doctors can’t give opioid pain-killers anymore; what are we suppose to do; be bedridden the rest of our life? I guess we’ll have to wait until legislators themselves start getting debilitating chronic-pain before they’ll care enough to change law.

The "Marijuana" you mention that is allowed for people with epilepsy is not what they need. All they will prescribe is hemp with no or extremely little THC and it’s the THC that these poor people need to stop the seizures!!! CBD is already legal in all 50 states. I buy it all the time. No one needs to wait for a doctor to get that. This whole thing is just a ploy to get more money in the govt pockets. Legalize it fully or at the least let the poor kids who suffer have the THC so they can get the help they need! Such bullshit!!!

This law is for all Texans regardless of color! The mention of minorities not being able to afford to do jail time is irrelevant. The point is we’re locking up our own friends and family members for something that is far less harmful than alcohol. The Mexican drug cartels and now the state of Colorado are taking all our hard earned Texas dollars. It’s time we change these antiquated laws and keep that money here.
