Perlite and vermiculite are both sterile substrates that have no npk value and there for deliver no nutrition to a plant. Perlite is for aeration to leave tiny air pocket in the medium for the roots to breathe and vermiculite is to help hold water retention for mediums that dry out to quickly they deliver no nutrients whatsoever. They may help hold nutrients that are added to the medium but stand alone have no effect on nutritional uptake in a plant.
