Training Cannabis Plant Branches – Bending Basics How To

Today I’ll talk more Horticulture branch bending basics (Low Stress Training) and address how to use low stress training methods to improve your harvest. Tying down branches and using larger containers are two SUPER simple ways. Topping is very useful as well, but its a high stress training method – episode on it coming soon.

I’ll add my method. When the plant is 4 inches tall turn it on it’s side. The plant will grow to the light giving you a very good bend with zero stress. Looks stupid until you see your progress .

I just ran out of papers Lex. Had no idea what I was doing I see next time I’m really going to town is that bamboo netting?seen a home made hemp string one

    Thank u very much brother…

  5. Tad Savage on June 3, 2023 at 2:54 pm

What do you think of having your plant grow sideways using plexiglass to keep it from coming thru netting. When it has grown to the length you’re satisfied with removing the plexiglass and then letting it grow through the screen?

I’m doing a microgrow in a space bucket, I plan on bending it to give me at least 6 tops, what point is it best to start?

  15. Maecie r on June 3, 2023 at 2:59 pm

Learned the hard way not to use metal wire!! It eventually cut my branch off.
I had a plant, and the bottom looked like a “V” well the right side slightly broke. So after looking for something besides tape to keep that branch on, I ended up using metal string. And the right side grew back onto the stem perfectly. But the left side got cut in half. & that branch made up half of my entire plant. probably could’ve tried to transplant the broken branch, but it was so big and heavy I didn’t dare to. I just tossed it ☹️

I’m a somewhat novice grower as I still have alot to learn but been researching and soaking up as much information as possible over the last few years and I’d have to say I’ve came a long way! My go to and ONLY way I grow is to top early while doing very gentle LST at the same time! I’ve came to realize this is the best method to increase your yields! All the small bud sights turn into new top colas and LOTS of them!!! To me its a "no brainer" and you dont need to be the best grower in the world to do it! I wouldn’t have it any other way!!!👍👌! Thanks for the great vid Lex!!!

Beginner grower, this video helped me. I’m a month from harvest and I’m super happy with the large canopy after bending the main branch down low. I have a few videos but just starting.
Cheers Lex! I appreciate watching your stuff always educational.

  24. Paulie on June 3, 2023 at 3:13 pm

I bought a 12 pack of plastic coated coat hangers £1.99!cut any bent them with pliers.bend a bit of a zigzag near the bottom of the stake, push it in the soil gently, and when you’ve hooked your branch, give it a tiny half twist.stops it springing straight out again.holds the plant safely! you’re welcome 😉

One of my plants i topped, then I started lst and it’s grown into this nice thick, even canopy bush shape. It’s beautiful. As this being my first grow, im very happy with the results of my experimenting

  28. Dead Man Walking on June 3, 2023 at 3:18 pm

How on earth am i supposed to bend the main stem safely without snapping? Not exactly low stress when so easy to snap a stem.

  29. mad on rc on June 3, 2023 at 3:20 pm

Should i apply lst before topping? 🤔

Hey what if I broke of a branch while training?

  33. bluntz902 on June 3, 2023 at 3:26 pm

I’ve decided to try training my purple mandarin sunset plants to grow in a circular pattern mimicking the shape of my 5 gallon pots and once they’ve grown completely around the outer edge and then top them, my theory is you can grow a big plant but force it to stay compact and should keep it under the light better.

  35. Axl Despaw on June 3, 2023 at 3:27 pm

Pipe cleaners is what I recommend because they don’t cut into the plant

  42. Gürbey Keskin on June 3, 2023 at 3:40 pm

I have a too compact growing plant. I did the training nicely and I have a nice even cannopee. Now my problem is, that I already have about 40 main shoots and I am not sure if I should consider to trim some of them off. The shoots seem to be very thin and don`t thicken up even I am in day 75 in veg. Well, I did some constant overwatering, that would be the main reason why I am so long into veg already ending up with a rather tiny plant. Is there anyone who would give me some tipps about the main shoot number I should keep when going into flower? I have a 20liter fabric pot and I am growing a black domina from sensi seeds. Thanks in advance for your valuable support.

Are this techniques (lst and topping) worthy in outdoor? Or only indoor?

I have a question im usen bigger pots these year next year i wanna use huge pots to grow in but question is can I re use and of that dirt the next year ?

  48. Nadie None on June 3, 2023 at 3:44 pm

Is the bending operation itself that enhace yield lefting aside the light factor? I mean why the human have developed a tek named low stress technik with some work to do on, insted of just redirect the light with mirrors or something for enhace light in areas that was in shadow without intervention… and without warping the plant but the light pathways and flow

  49. RA1NBOWC0RN69 on June 3, 2023 at 3:44 pm

You can Top & Lst I just started it my self it works but will take some time for your plant to recover but you’ll grow more stems and branch’s
