Trimming Cannabis
Unlike many other plants cannabis does require some method of singling out the unpollinated buds from the rest of the plant material.
The process of removing the leaves near the buds can require some detailed trimming if going for a high quality dry flower end product.
However, if there is a lot of plant volume to get through utilizing some mechanical method may be advised to at least remove some of the bulk material allowing for less plant material that needs to be manually removed which will improve efficiency.

Hand Trimming Tools for Cannabis
Advantages
Allows for each bud to be handled in a unique way
Disadvantages
Labor intensive

Using a Trimming Machine for Cannabis
Advantages
Efficient method for high volume material
Disadvantages
Can damage the buds
May remove too much plant material

Some Use Both
If you have a lot of plant material to process, than using a trommel may be a good first step to initially trim the buds.

This will remove the large leaves and bulk material which will then allow for you to spend the time doing the detail work so each unique dry flower gets the individual attention it needs to look its best.

We have two of the Twister T4’s shown near the end of this video. When using them our Kief fails for nickel, while no nickel shows up in our flower. It would be interesting and helpful to know if this is from the blades, ( which are stainless steel which contains nickel ) or if nickel is naturally concentrated in the kief.
