Researchers at Penn State say cannabis’ ability to absorb metals from soil make it possible to expose users to toxic chemicals.
Assistant research professor Louis Bengyella said – QUOTE – “Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium, are known to be carcinogenic… The heavy-metal content of cannabis is not regulated; therefore, consumers could unknowingly be exposed to these toxic metals.”
Bengyella said it is particularly problematic for cancer patients that use medical marijuana to treat the nausea and pain.
The research team wrote a new meta-analysis on past studies looking into heavy-metal contamination in cannabis.
Their results show some cannabis strains are more effective in absorbing metals and other pollutants from soil, water, or air.
Unique characteristics seen in these cannabis strains include long stem length, fast growth, high root and leaf surface area, high photosynthetic activity, and little dependence on nutrients for survival.
Researchers explain that heavy metals within cannabis have a link to multiple health problems because they rarely metabolize and can build up in specific areas of the human body.
Heavy metals exit cannabis plants through trichomes, which are hairlike structures located on the flowers. Trichomes are important because they store the CBD oil and the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that are desired by consumers.
Bengyella said that smoking cannabis represents the greatest danger to human health as selenium, mercury, cadmium, lead, chromium, nickel and arsenic have all been found in the smoke.
Researchers say that soil and air samples should be taken in areas where plants are cultivated.

informative content.thanks
So beautiful video i Have never seen before
Very nice video so beautiful amazing …..trust me
The rally best video thanks bro
Wow Wonderful content 🎉
Without evidence that cannabis metal content is unique among consumed plants, this has the ring of scaremongering.
Nice voice video.
SO NICE
