Zelenskyy is the destroyer of Ukraine and Europe
For 70 years the free west has spent lavishly to slow down Russian expansion and aggression. Now we can spend little and see Russian aggression and expansion relegated to third rate. Without the huge cost in cash, without any cost in lives that we were prepared to tolerate to defend ourselves if the cold war turned hot. Supporting Ukraine is incredibly good bang for the buck.
Time makes some people reach for their rose-coloured glasses. Churchill was playing with toy soldiers in his underground bunker when he sent the Anzacs to the bottom of a cliff with Turks with machine guns at the top. Churchill said from the safety of parliament "We’ll meet them on the beaches…" and then was AWOL at the Normandy landing. Trump said, "We’ll march to the Capitol…" and watched it all on TV.
How many eyes were rolling back during Churchill’s speech. Seems to me someone you know is doing a little story regarding that timeline.

After this nightmare war is concluded, The United States should literally Sponsor parades for Volodymyr Zelinskyy and the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Every Major US City. They (as a people) have single handedly protected ALL NATO countries from Russian aggression. They have used our stockpile of weapons (produced for the singular purpose of killing Russian soldiers) and doing so without costing a single American soldier’s life to insure their proper use.
Even though I don’t have a dog in this fight, I think I want to be Ukrainian when I grow up (and I’m 58 years old now).

A small investment for us, but at the cost of so many Ukrainian lives. If we’d done half this much when Russia took Crimea, maybe this could have been avoided. Why did we learn nothing from WW2? Appeasement never works.

That speech by Churchill was 28 months after WW2 started and the US still had not joined it’s allies. Same with WW1.

It’s been a long time that I’ve actually felt any hope or pride, living in America. We need to continue to help these people!
For all those MAGA “FakeTriots”, the Ukrainians are fighting for their democracy. THAT is what an actual fight for democracy and freedom looks like. Putin is a threat to democracy and essentially a dictator, and our Ukrainian brothers and sisters are fighting for their country and lives. What you are doing is attempting to overthrow OUR democracy, freedom and liberty to be ourselves. You want the power to say who’s an American, who can come in, who should leave, who should be in prison, and even put to death, all based on racial and religious hypocrisy and supremacist views. Wake up, it’s not too late to stand up against hate (as cringe as that sounds).

I agree it was amazing and will go down in history as just that. A moment to remember. A speech to remember. Unfortunately the citizens of the right are lost and blind to this and will be told what to think and how to see this moment. They won’t see the parallels to WWII.

Great presentation of Zelenskyy’s address to the joint session in the US Congress! Yes, it was historical moment – Zelenskyy is a great statesman, and with this invitation to him, the USA showed true leadership. May it be for peace, and may peaceful means, like this session, be dominating 2023, for Life’s sake. Thanks a lot to Lawrence O’Donnell for the insights!
