Water Temperatures for Cannabis & Why it Matters – Just One Thing w/ Chad Westport : Spider Farmer
Water Temperatures for Cannabis & Why it Matters – Just One Thing w/ Chad Westport : Spider Farmer
Just one thing is a series aimed at helping new growers get a better grip on the big picture. Instead of approaching the growing process with one big brushstroke of paint, in 5 to 10 minutes Iโll quickly discuss just one topic with experienced growers, and help you get a deeper understanding of the multiple pieces that make up the growing process. This series aims to educate people on the many potentials and pitfalls of home cultivation.
Today I wanted to hop in real quick to talk about the importance of water temperature. It is the warm, summer months and some of us might be making an unintentional mistake that could be damaging to the overall health of the plant. No one wants that.
That is the topic up for discussion today. Thank you for tuning in, expect many more of these great videos coming soon. So, what is your “Just One Thing? Please let us know in the comment section!

Wow very cool and super informative much thx for this one๐๐ค๐ป๐จ
I have the opposite issue. It’s cold in winter basement temps are below 60ยฐf. Even in summer with AC on its cold low 60’s. I knew warm water bacteria could be an issue, and I figured to cold just like people would be a shock to their system. I had no idea about it effecting oxygen. I use Rain Science bags, will this help offset the impact of lower oxygen levels? I use to use air stone, but stop when I noticed my pH soaring. With room temperature low is there anything other than air stone to help oxygen levels? Thanks.
Iv’e left my pump(Water sump pump) on by mistake and came back and my water temps were high 70’s. Even though i had probably 20 dollar worth of nutes in that 450 liter res i just dumped it all out and started over. Not worth the risk imo to save a few bucks and some time.
Damn glad I watched this video I collect rainwater and it being winter I’ve been watering my plants with very cold water now I’ll let the water sit for awhile inside to warm up a little
Would that cause your plant to go yellow if your water is too cold? Say from the bud sites out (new growth). Awesome video Chad thanks!
Awesome dude ๐
oxygenating fuel gives more hp to race engines . so it makes sense for it to help the garden also
Good information here for sure ๐ฅณ. Nice video ๐ธ๐ท
I think this is one big thing everyone misses. Itโs pretty wild how much the temp effects the actual oxygen content in the water. Like fish in a warm body of water during droughts, theyโre sluggish from lack of oxygen and the temperature. Makes sense that any specimen that survives on water would be effected somehow. Keep them coming my dude! ๐ค๐ผ
I keep checking off boxes of things to pay attention to in my grow. I’ve added monitoring and adjusting water temps since my last grow. I keep refining the system. It’s getting better. Thanks for the reminder Chad!
Dropping another knowledge bomb for the community, great video dude. I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July.
You can use and Airlift (Brewer) not only to make AACT ๐
Great info man! ๐จ
im always 18-20 C with my juice. after a while you can train your finger to be quite accurate.
Its slightly cool to the touch
This was another great one my friend , water temps are so but so important , growers love and keep it up
Great stuff ๐ฏ๐ค

like a good sandwich! satisfying ty.
Happy independence Day! I use an rv carbon filter for my city water. I have tested my tap without filter and with filter and I found it to be good enough to stop using my expensive R/O system for plants. Hard water with mostly calcium/mag. Does shaking your water jug put oxygen into the water?? I like the violent shakes for my goodies lol. Keep up the great work!
Awesome topic mate, an often overlooked key to the puzzle that throws things out easier than you think.
Thanks Chad. Appreciate your thaoughts..
Thank you ๐.. good ๐ stuff..
Dissolved o2 in water… Damn son… ๐คฏ
I totally just did this recently lol watering with too warm of water I think .. and was like wtf is wrong ! Adjusting lights watering changing position airflow etc.. and I’m thinking now as i watch this yeppp probably that lol ๐คฃ had water siting too long in warm area but live and learn ehhh! Thanks for the informative episode again chad๐ much love and positivity โ๐๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ณ๐๐โ

Good tip ๐
Great I was wondering that the other day thank you happy Fourth of July
You have me wondering about the temp of my rain barrel water. It sits in the sun all morning. My aquaponics system water is pretty warm too.
My city uses chloramine which doesn’t get removed from sitting out for a day. I started just buying 3 5 gallon jugs of primo water and refill them at a local store of mine every few weeks for about $6 each refill. I was looking into getting my own RO filter but for now this works.
Grrreat video, love the information and I’m now subscribed to your channel ๐
Great info thanks Chad, have a great rest of your week..
Luv the muzac
Happy 4th ๐ฅโค๐บ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฟ๐ค
Thanks for another great production Chad!
those ezcloners are useless in this heat i agree…
68 degrees Fahrenheit has always been perfect for me
Well.. another great one Chad. Great point. I use my hose pipe for my outdoor plants and lately it’s been in the high 90s. I have to let it run for a couple mins before the water cools down. If I started watering immediately it’s coming out over 100!! Great tips as always. Happy growing โ๏ธ
Big UP the team button like ๐ thanks for the force la puissance ๐ฅ๐๐๏ธ๐โ๏ธ๐ช๐
I was under the impression oxygen is pulled into the root zone when watering. In deep water culture when the roots are constantly sitting in water, DO matters, but hand watering soil or coco temps don’t matter. Root shock is a thing with colder temps, but my outdoor plants loved water that was in high 70s..
Right on, good stuff for the new growers Chad. Enjoy your week c ya on the chats.
party on !!!! ๐ค๐ค
Thanks
Great info brother ๐๐ฝ๐ค๐ฝ
Gday mate , another good one young fella, goodonya , Burt .
Great tip I wish I would have seen it a few years back though lol
I put the water in a milk jug and shake it for a minute(ish) before using it. That will disolve more oxygen back into the water. Very warm water will still hold enough oxygen for a short time if you do this. It is best to keep the water cool, but you can work around the issue of warm temps if needed.
