I’m going to apply this to my lawn. However, I have a question of what product I should apply to control and kill the weeds. Scott’s has a weed and feed product that feeds and treats the weeds. From what I can tell from this product, this is just food and nutrition for the lawn. It doesn’t address the weeds. What is the best product I should use to help with weeds in conjunction with PGF Complete?

The Sta-green fertilizer that Lowes sells works just as good for me as when I could buy the over priced Lesco stuff. Hey people, fescue WILL lighten up as the temps climb,it’s the nature of the grass, not a lack of fertilizer. The only time I fertilize is in the fall when it starts to cool down. I try and hit it in late Sept and then hit it strong in Nov-Dec. Your yard will be green as can be when it wakes up in spring with zero need for fertilizer. IF you over seeded in the fall I would recommend a light spring fertilizing but otherwise not.

Was excited to buy this to realise not for sale in UK lol

Anderson’s is not cheap. Like $40 plus a bag for 5000 square feet. My yard is almost 20000 square feet. I did use Anderson’s this last time, and it is really good. I don’t know how affordable it is. I guess it will be based on your yard size.

Not sure if my grass as browning did to going dormant or a fungus. Is fungicide a good to use? Abnormally cold this year until a couple weeks ago. Looked good until then..Thx!

PGF Complete from Andersons is by far the best I’ve ever used and the #1 choice for LPGA Golf Courses… It does fantastic on my Soysia

    Have anyone used Milorganite?

  12. richard rush on March 21, 2023 at 5:52 am

Turf grass lawns are actually the most wasteful use of your yard’s area. Turf grasses require fertilization. The use of chemical fertilizers and herbicides poisons our environment and water tables. The fertilers also lead directly to dangerous algal blooms in our oceans.
Turf grasses also require extensive watering during dryer weather. The water is especially troubling since it requires draw-down of aquifers and rivers and lakes; water that would be better utilized by humans and animals.
The third major problem with grass lawns is that they offer no food for bees. Hate to sound like a "tree hugger", but it is true; our bees are in major trouble and without bees we are an endangered species as well.
The solution? If you are in the proper climate do away with the turf grasses and replace them with white clover, violets and yes, (shudder) dandelions. Feed the bees and they will feed us.
Don’t forget white clover, violets, dandelions, plantains, purslane etc. are also edible by you! Check them out! And mowed regularly between blooming the "weed lawn" is extremely drought resistant, can grow in less than ideal soil, can withstand shady lawns and are very resilient to wear and tear from kids and pets. At a distance it all still looks like green grass without the problems associated with turf grasses

I think Milorganite is the best value, organic, cheap, and effective

  14. ArielStereo on March 21, 2023 at 5:53 am

    Have you used MicroLife fertilizers?

  15. Geoffrey Orbegoso on March 21, 2023 at 5:56 am

Pro Tip: the best source of food for your lawn is the sun. Yeah, the process is called photosynthesis. The best part? It’s free. Thanks 7th grade biology teacher.

  16. Ice man on March 21, 2023 at 5:57 am

It’s not the fertilizer it’s the dirt

  17. Matt Andrews on March 21, 2023 at 5:59 am

I also live in Massachusetts, do you have any ideas for a fully organic fertilizer not really one for the synthetic stuff

  18. Lance Uppercut on March 21, 2023 at 6:00 am

The lawn looks like a Brain 🧠 you will know but when you see it.

The question is what is in the fertiliser that the lawn needs ?

  19. Mike Watts on March 21, 2023 at 6:01 am

Save your money and time watching any more videos – Milorganite is by far the best fertilizer available – about $18 a bag at Lowe’s or Home Depot.

  22. maggarlion on March 21, 2023 at 6:04 am

Sorry Silver Cymbal. I only use Jonathan Green seeding and sodding for startup fertilizer, Jonthatn Green Green up lawn food for regular fertilizing and also the JG Organic lawn food for the shaded areas that doesnt need too much nitrogen. They work for me

  24. TAU TV on March 21, 2023 at 6:09 am

what height do you mow the lawn at?

  25. Paul Scott on March 21, 2023 at 6:10 am

I think Milorganite with its iron is the best fertilizer. I throw it down every six weeks during the growing season and I have a better lawn than a golf course. I also use Hydretain every 10 weeks. In the fall, I add compost. And in the spring, I do a soil test. If you want the greenest lawn in town, you need nitrogen, potassium and iron in your mix. Take care of weeds and mow tall.

I have a truckload of organic LeafGrow spread on my lawn in the fall. Feed the dirt, not the grass.

  31. RUDY on March 21, 2023 at 6:16 am

In southern california Ive used scott’s for years on my tall fescue lawn, ive never had any clumping or problems, but Im ready to try something new 😎

  36. Something with Seth on March 21, 2023 at 6:20 am

Great video. I’m never buying a fertilizer (or any product for that matter) that hasn’t been on the market for awhile. Also, the Scott’s Fertilizer that you get the clumps in, isn’t on the manufacturer. They send it to so many stores, the stores won’t properly handle the product and moisture gets in. Nice video !!!!

  37. Steve Reaves on March 21, 2023 at 6:22 am

The worse thing I’ve ever done was use a winterizer. the next spring I had to resod my lawn.

Hi I have the lawn striper from torro that hangs from the back of the lawnmower but I have Bermuda grass and it doesn’t show much, do you have any suggestions to get theawn stripes with Bermuda grass??? Thanks

  40. Larry Cartolano on March 21, 2023 at 6:26 am

The video is good. I no longer use Scotts for the same reasons you mentioned. However, while The Andersons PFG Complete is probably "the best", there is no way it is "affordable" for the average homeowner. Currently, it runs around $37/5K sqft bag. For example, I need about 12K sqft so that would be over 2 bags or around $85 worth per application. I will stick with lawn fertilizers from Rural King or Menards, typically between $28 – $32 for 15K sqft bags.

  41. Steve on March 21, 2023 at 6:26 am

In what world is $80 for 40lbs affordable

What would you recommend as a weed preventer? Also a good weed killer?

  50. jvcyt298 on March 21, 2023 at 6:38 am

I first learned about the Andersons from "How to with Doc" on youtube, their products are so much better than anything that you can get at a big box store, but you pay a premium for that quality, and for most, a few extra dollars is worth having less aggravation, and a beautiful lawn.
