What You CAN & CAN'T Do To Autoflower Plants! (Garden Talk #54)

In this episode of Garden Talk, I talk with Highigan. They are big into growing autoflowers and that’s what we talk about today. Specifically, how they grow autoflowers and what you can/can’t do when growing autoflowers. What plants do you like to grow? House plants, fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, let us know in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video please click that thumbs up button 🙂

Can an auto be stressed into producing seed? Then would those seed produce auto’s? Thank you ….loven the channel.

Highigan, Build-a-Soil (Jeremy), & Mr Canucks (Matt) have all been great inspirations for self in home growing. The knowledge, & easy going vibes from all 3 channels, make growing less intimidating. Side note: if any of those channels I mentioned reads this, thank you much.

just started my first grow and i started my seedlings in peat pots and the transplant was pretty seamless. dunno if thats common knowledge but it seemed like the best way to have them veg a little before transplanting with low stress to the baby

    Autos=Monsanto

  8. @aidensmith4686 on February 28, 2024 at 7:02 am

Once you’ve paid for the seeds, you can do as you please.

  9. @tthtonekid on February 28, 2024 at 7:03 am

Lol saying lst doesn’t effect yield is such a weird take lol. Glad you and neil both hopped on that "opinion".

Great show…I am a beginner and trying so many different seeds…I am having fun growing…please can you tell me the most potent seed out there that I can purchase? I look for ward to watching your show and videos. Thank you so much!

  11. @Drag0nFlea on February 28, 2024 at 7:05 am

15 years that I’m starting auto’s in small cups and transplanting them on day 14 to 3 gal pots, never ever did i have any problems with it, it works flawlessly.

  12. @user-df2pw7ke8z on February 28, 2024 at 7:06 am

FINALLY! Somebody mentions the variables of Autos in terms of strain specific tolerance. "Grow to know" I love it🔥🤘🏻

  13. @AtypicalPaul on February 28, 2024 at 7:07 am

    Anyone use rain water?

  14. @christopherhumphrey on February 28, 2024 at 7:09 am

Question: 46:25 light cycle. If light doesn’t matter after 18/6 and cost is a concern. Why not go 12/12? Any thoughts?

  15. @looneylonzo28 on February 28, 2024 at 7:09 am

23:39 thining out the bottom, half and thinning out the very center of it is something that I did practice but I was also heavy into using lighting in the center of the bush. It helps with inner flower growth in allowed the smaller stems the light they needed to grow up into the canopy, because of politics, I moved away from California and I now live in Louisiana. Hopefully they’ll legalize it soon because I miss my gardening. The only thing I grow here is potatoes, water, melons, and cucumbers, sweet basil, and Alevera. i’m glad they haven’t made watching videos illegal yet.lol✌️🤟

    What are bananas?

  17. @brianalexander7469 on February 28, 2024 at 7:10 am

Hmmm so you would do 18/ 6 or other time they said even through the seedling stage?

  18. @marymaynor3298 on February 28, 2024 at 7:11 am

What’s funny is the fact that my hundreds grows in the very same way as this young lady and has been for a few years telling people in many groups how and what he uses. He uses coco coir 70/30 with 1 pound Nature’s living Soil concentrate auto and 1 pound worm castings per five gallon fabric pots along with teas made of Nature’s living Soil , worm castings and one tablespoon unsulfured black strap molasses and in flower added two tablespoons Nature’s living Soil Girl Flower Power top dressings. Sounds VERY familiar. He grows the bigger auto flower you’ll ever see. He tops at the fourt node down to the third and uses 90° plastic angles to LST form there. When the plant starts stretching he adds a scrog. I swear this lady and my husband grows exactly the same way.

  19. @InvaderKush on February 28, 2024 at 7:11 am

What I’ve done is pop the seed, put it in a rapid rooter plug, put the plug upside down and it can stand up, once I see it’s going to make it, or it sheds the shell, I put it in its forever home. The first time I grew autos I transplanted too late, and the rootball fell apart while I was transplanting and it just flowered a 4 inch plant haha. I’m just getting back to growing them after 10 years of photos lol.

  20. @rodgray4459 on February 28, 2024 at 7:11 am

    autos,,,,,keep it simple.

  21. @IntoTheFire777 on February 28, 2024 at 7:12 am

There’s just something about LST that’s so satisfying. I love seeing how the plant reacts and changes with the bending, so for me, there’s a "fun" aspect as well as I’m looking for the most top sites when I LST, I do it every grow.

  22. @taylordauwe on February 28, 2024 at 7:14 am

Good point on the microbes onto the roots. A good solution to that without having to deal with the negatives of transplanting with an auto is to mix it into your soil before dropping the seed into the first and final container. I personally like coco so I’ll amend a bag of coco with some 4-4-4 (Gaia Green or Down To Earth will do) and dynomyco, pop the seed in there after 2-3 days in plain water and feed it just ph’d water with calmag in it for the first 2-3 weeks. Hasn’t failed me yet.

  23. @johnswoboda2986 on February 28, 2024 at 7:14 am

When in doubt, or to lazy to take the runoff measurement. I water my nutrient solution in at 6.5ish pH. I grow synganic in coco+wormcastings+perlite (40-40-20 %i ratio of medium). I found if I go even 5.8 it will lock out phosphorus and I will get paranoid about micronutrient toxicity, since cannabis is a hyperaccumolator.

  24. @popeyeloze on February 28, 2024 at 7:16 am

Why doesn’t anybody use miracle grow potting soil

  25. @baldemarortegon on February 28, 2024 at 7:19 am

I’ve grown 23 autos so far and 3 of them didn’t amber, same genetics. Some autos will not amber!

  26. @looneylonzo28 on February 28, 2024 at 7:21 am

reminds me of one I had a while back, decent genetics. It was about 3 foot tall my daughters cat got into the room and broke a branch off third node up. It had decent growth on the branch, so I chopped it, stuck it in a piece of Alevera and planted it three weeks later that branch that was about a foot and a half long was now almost 3 1/2 foot long and it started putting on weight. It started packing on the buds but at the same time it mutated to a single leaf plant with what appeared to be seed sacks, but that was it. It started flowering although the yield was less than half of the original female plant this mutation was much more potent and it was what I would call the icky sticky like a senca million. dried weight was only 44 g I wouldn’t do it again, but I’d be curious to know if anybody else has had a similar situation or a one leaf mutation

You gotta have a generator and solar cells , your just one storm away from the lights being out all week or two

    12/12 cycle for autos?

  30. @danaruiz7083 on February 28, 2024 at 7:26 am

I do not top my autos especially when the define the height phenomenon, i super crop due to the fact that topping slows down development, a week is usually lost od progress. HUGE FAN OF LST. Happy growing

  31. @wrongplanet1957 on February 28, 2024 at 7:28 am

Never heard of autos, never seen zny ,the last batch of Mexican dirt weed I bought was full of seeds. N I’d not had much luck in past of ant seeds spouting I figure it’s the leeching of the oils ,to get the smgood stuff out before they pass it to market, but I dropped some in dirt did my thing n soon I’ve got ten , 12 tiny plants , instantly got flowers on them, no leaves, sooooo, I need to go to school , again, this will be my 5th new trade

  32. @cannafarmer on February 28, 2024 at 7:29 am

Autos are not worth the effort imo unless you have to grow them due to growing season and space issues.

  36. @Toxicotterwillwhitez on February 28, 2024 at 7:31 am

Is there any of space where people have this wide of variety inputs ? People out here using 500 methods across another 1,000 variations tailoring their method and their genetics to each other forming synergy . One growers advice might be gospel for their set up and their genetics . Man the cannabis grow bible I bought when I was 16 years old what 20 years ago . Man does it hold up to this day ! If there is a foundation in this space . I believe it is the cannabis grow bible paper back edition that made its way into the western book shops .

Are they ready any quicker with more light?

  39. @Super-fanonymous27 on February 28, 2024 at 7:39 am

  40. @Cana_Tv420 on February 28, 2024 at 7:39 am

I use root cubes and from there they go to a solo cup and from there into 1 gallon biodegradable nursery pots so that way I don’t shock the plant I can just place the whole pot into the new pot

  49. @lizardlefty286 on February 28, 2024 at 7:49 am

I watch your show a bit these too can’t grow for crap they need to be cancelled for spreading misinformation about growing autos false prophets

  50. @matthewjesse1016 on February 28, 2024 at 7:51 am

I’m currently on my first grow, they sent some freebie seeds that were auto’s with my photo periods so I’m running an auto now to get the slight hang/idea of hoe I want to do things, I did one fim really early into the grow, on the third node, other than that I’ve been low stress training and it’s turning out beauutifully, I did transplant as well one time from seedling 🌱 about a week after it sprouted, sour apple auto going strong so far and I’m loving the first grow ❤
