How to Germinate your Cannabis Seeds!
How to Germinate your Cannabis Seeds!
Germinating seeds is very easy, even if, for legal reasons, we can’t actually say what specific seeds we may be referring to.
The first thing to say is that not all seeds germinate at the same speed – some may germinate within a couple of days; others may take over a week.
To begin with, check your seeds.
They should be brown, hard and dry. If they look green and fresh, they haven’t yet matured and will not be ready.
The equipment you then need to germinate your seeds is not exactly cutting-edge technology.
Two plates, four sheets of kitchen roll, some distilled water, and that’s it.
Oh, don’t forget your seeds!
First off, dampen, but don’t oversoak the kitchen paper with the distilled water.
Then lay two of the four sheets on a plate.
On top of the sheet place your seeds, approximately an inch apart.
Then place the remaining two sheets of paper on top and gently press them down.
Finally, invert the second plate and place it on top to form a dome.
Now the seeds are in a dark, damp place.
To help them germinate, all they need is a little warmth, keeping them at a temperature of between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Over the next few days, check that the paper never dries out, but don’t oversoak it.
You will know when a seed has germinated as it will have split, and what is called the tap root will have begun to grow.
At this stage resist temptation to touch your seeds as they are very fragile and susceptible to germs.
Get some small, two-inch pots and fill them nearly to the top with potting compost.
Make a small hole in the centre of the compost, about a quarter of an inch deep using a pencil.
Then, using a pair of tweezers, gently transfer the germinated seed into the soil with the tap root pointing downwards.
Dampen the soli with a spray bottle to keep it moist, but if the compost becomes too wet, the seedling may wither and die.
We’ll cover lighting in a separate video as there’s quite a lot to discuss, so in the meantime, if you have any germinating tips, share them with us in the comments below, and of course if you enjoyed this video make sure to subscribe to our channel, so you too can become a cannabis expert!
After putting the seeds in the hole do you cover the hole?
To check if seeds are propper, squeeze and if they don’t pop then there good

Hi, this may sound like a silly question, it is so cold in my country
and my apartment is very cold, as it is stating temperature of 20 – 25c
for germination. How can I germinate the seeds? Any tips please?
1:45…quarter of an inch, that’s more like 2 inches…far too deep…
I have some Ak47 seeds and I did the paper towel method and the Seas have not popped open and I put one and soil and you still did not pop up but the seeds are regular AK-47 and I’m trying to grow them indoors…..I need help
This is the worst method I have ever seen please don’t follow this advice
I just put my seeds in moist potting soil. Pointy end up and dont put them to deep.
Does it have to be distilled
Is it the same with automatic seeds?
to be honest what a bad video for teaching people how to put them in their growmedium!
If thats a quarter inch, I have the longest penis this side of the Mississippi..
He puts all seeds in 1 cup lol 😆
What can we do to generate warmth for the seeds in the plate dome?
Can I make a suggestion? When you are showing how to put the germinated seeds with tap root appearing into the medium, you show that you’re putting the seeds one after the other on top of each other…I was confused. Would you not only place one germinated seed into one hole, thus one container? Rather than several seeds on top of each other like you demonstration shows? For example, if you put several germinated marijuana seeds into one quarter inch deep, pencil thick hole, they would not grow properly…one seed for hole, and several inches between plants if in the same container, but I never have more than one plant per container, otherwise the roots get tangled up and neither plant will grow to it’s full potential.
wet paper towel germinates…. guaranteed
Erm, I put three seeds in three little paper pots on a seed mat and covered with soil. Seeds were about quarter inch from top of the soil. I have three leggy ladies two weeks later. Place them on the windowsill. I think it’s what I have to do later that gets a bit more involved and hands on.
Please guys, do NOT put more than one seed per pot! 😂
Use a napkin 1st, then the towels!!!!
The root gets tangled up in the fibrous towel..
go watch some porn if you come across this comment 😛😉👙

First time grower. Love your videos. What do you do when you have two seedlings come up in the same solo cup? I feel like if I pull one out and try to replant it it will shock it too much. I’m not sure how the other Sillen got in there I was missing one but I thought it hit the floor. LOL. Look forward to your response.
