Top 10 Autoflowers for Cold Climates

Top 10 Autoflowers for Cold Climates

These strains are fast flowering, highly resilient and will give you the upper hand when it comes to harvesting outdoors.

These cultivars will produce amazing results in types of challenging climates. For growers who experience shorter summers, followed by a cold and wet winter will find the above list to be their way of filling up those curing jars all year long. Just remember that plants are living beings and they won’t doubt to show you signs that they’re not happy.

The strains mentioned above can be grown in colder climates but they’re not freeze-proof so keep an eye on your babies and if the leaves are droopy or they’re showing other signs of something not being okay, make sure you take appropriate measures. Covering your plants with a plastic sheet or simply building a basic greenhouse structure to protect your plants can make a difference between a normal harvest and a great one, so always keep an eye on your crop to check for mold just to be safe and keep your plants healthy and well-fed so they can grow super strong and tough even in the most challenging climates outdoors.

If you’ve grown any of the strains mentioned in this article before and have some tips for fellow growers that also grow (or are planning on growing) in colder climates, feel free to leave a comment in the comment section below!

Ferns duck is a hardy and strangely anoff isn’t a high yielder it self but any crosses I have made always have abnormally large yields, all of them ! I think the point your missing is light hours in the Northern hemispheres… in witch case any FastBuds autos sound perfect 🤩 and there also more then likely the most stable and Hard hitting autos available on the market atm.. just to bad not all strains are available in Canada at one time yet. Cheers there is more then a few I wish I could put to the test / hunt

The Gelato auto is the best for winter she doesnt even slow growth, i did have to use HPS but temperatures dropped to 13celcius and max. 19celcius. The Fastbuds Blue Dream also finishes very heavy in winter and no mold at all

As someone who’s grown a TON of outdoor autos in Maine, I want to say that the boutique autos are actually not resistant to anything in my experience over photos. This is a common myth I see a lot on strain info.

Most of the autos I lost this past year were fast buds, not trying to dissuade from growing them, because they were absolutely beautiful. BUT…. I would say that most cannabis autos are no better in cold, wet climates than photos.

For example I live on the coast of Maine and lost all the “nice” strains that were crossed with fancy photos like the ones fast buds promote.

The only ones who could deal with the cold and wet were legit Ruderalis strains which weren’t as dense and potent as the boutique strains.

No hate here, just wanted to put my experience out there, in my experience this claim is entirely false.

I lost most plants on this list to bud rot, no joke

One not available to the market I hunted years back is a bagseed blueberry x strawberry photo male x low flyer auto female. on f2 of that I took a male of it & cross pollinated to Darkdevil auto to stabilize as a autos
😅 pheno hunted those for growing in the wild for zone 2 Canada. She’s rather stretchy to help out grow competitive native plants (gorilla style) averaging around three to four inches in between internodes (branch’s) with long Dense spear shaped nugs to help shed morning dew in late august early September and prevent mold .. I call them Beaverfeaver beacuse I would literally chuck the seeds near a beaver dam leave come back in June pick a male to keep for pollination never tilled soil , added nutrients or cut native plants would only be at the spot maybe 5 times a summer at most only 3 times if I got really lucky on the right day that Pollen sacks started opening on the male I wanted to use. Then once for harvest in mid September 😅 I started hunting that one when I was 20 I’m now 28

Man I bought amnesia auto (not amnesia haze auto) it crossed with a purple kush male and it’s offspring are just phenomenal. Like one of them smelled like fermented fruit pepper and spice but was such a floaty uplifting stone it’s crazy. Hopefully I can stabilize it
